Requirements
  • One to two years of office, business, or customer service experience.

Responsibilities
  • Fill and maintain multi-provider dentist, hygiene, and dental health aide therapist schedules.
  • Create and maintain specialty clinic schedules and patient scheduling.
  • Direct phone calls to the appropriate care provider and maintain the voicemail system with proper delegation of patient needs and tasks.
  • Follow dental reminder-system guidelines using patient reminder software.
  • Answer patient billing questions and take necessary action to resolve accounts.
  • Recommend accounts for placement with bad-debt agencies or charity write-off.
  • Coordinate benefits.
  • Perform insurance eligibility and benefit verification and document the information in the patient accounting system.
  • Receive and post patient payments at check-in.
  • Post cash, credit-card, check, and electronically transferred funds to beneficiary and non-beneficiary accounts within three business days of deposit, or escalate non-postable deposits for resolution.
  • Create treatment estimates and review them with patients before services are rendered.
  • Apply first-level patient discounts, including prompt-pay discounts.
  • Calculate, review, and follow up on patient payment plans.
  • Refer patients to the Benefit Specialist when appropriate and collaborate with financial counselors to identify alternative funding sources.
  • Generate service authorizations for Medicaid and Veterans Affairs.
  • Balance clinic financials daily, including source-system transactions and daily batch deposits.
  • Provide primary receptionist services by receiving and directing incoming calls and assisting callers.
  • Distribute and collect patient registration paperwork and ensure demographic and insurance information is communicated and entered correctly.
  • Accept medical authorization or referral forms when appropriate and manage patient referrals to outside agencies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in a healthcare or dental setting, or equivalent experience with two years of progressively responsible customer-service experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
