Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least six months of previous experience in a similar position is required.
  • High-school-graduate-level mathematical aptitude, standard cash-handling procedures, and knowledge of computerized cash-register systems are required.
  • Previous experience dealing directly with the public and general knowledge of basic customer-service skills are required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • The ability to use tact and understanding when handling varied customer-service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations, is required.
  • The ability to remain highly organized and attentive to written and verbal details while performing multiple tasks is required.
  • The ability to read written communications and a monochrome computer screen is required.
  • The ability to operate computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing is required.
  • The ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate verbally and in writing is required.

Responsibilities
  • Respond professionally and courteously to arriving, departing, and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services.
  • Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns.
  • Greet arriving guests and complete established check-in procedures using manual and computerized methods.
  • Facilitate guest departures by following established manual and computer check-out procedures, closing guest accounts, and opening rooms for the next sale.
  • Calculate and post monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other forms of credit using accurate cash-handling methods and established procedures.
  • Answer inquiries and accept reservations in person and by telephone, accurately communicate hotel rates and information, and use suggestive selling techniques to sell room nights and increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions and responding knowledgeably to questions and concerns.
  • Operate PBX equipment by accepting incoming calls, assisting with outgoing calls, scheduling and setting wake-up calls, and paging guests.
  • Control cash transactions at the front desk and maintain responsibility for a personal bank under the hotel bank-agreement policy.

Sage will oversee daily operations of the property, originally constructed in 1906 as a Masonic Temple, including management of the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar.
