Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in software development, particularly in backend, platform, or infrastructure roles.
  • Expert proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, and TypeScript, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing, building, testing, and operating complex distributed cloud-native systems using Infrastructure as Code; Terraform is preferred.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools such as Datadog and Prometheus, and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes and Cloud Run.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex technical strategies and trade-offs.
  • Experience safely integrating AI-assisted development tools into professional engineering workflows with measurable improvements in developer effectiveness, code quality, and reliability.
Responsibilities
  • Architect, develop, and maintain critical foundational platform services and tools that significantly impact the technology stack.
  • Drive cross-functional technical leadership by influencing strategic architecture decisions and shaping engineering best practices across teams.
  • Mentor and guide engineers at various levels through structured mentorship, code reviews, and technical consultations.
  • Identify, define, and execute strategic technical initiatives, transforming abstract problems into actionable, high-impact projects.
  • Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to advocate for consistent patterns, tooling improvements, and standardized solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional system design reviews to identify systemic risks, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities to enhance developer experience.
  • Introduce new technologies, methodologies, and industry trends to strengthen technical capabilities.
  • Advise technology leadership and adapt communication style to help drive sound technical executive decisions.
  • Direct complex, cross-functional rapid responses to production incidents and drive systemic improvements and strategic operational practices for high reliability across critical platform services.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and introduce AI-assisted engineering practices that improve developer productivity, code quality, documentation standards, and operational resilience across multiple teams.

Anacostia Rail Holdings appoints Aimee Nolan as Chief Legal Officer. Anacostia Rail Holdings (ARH) has appointed Aimee Nolan as Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately. She joins the executive leadership team and will oversee legal, compliance, governance, and risk functions as the company continues to grow. Nolan succeeds Mark Sidman, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, who will retire on March 31, 2026, after more than ten years with ARH. Since joining the company in 2013, Sidman played a key role in supporting long-term growth and strengthening governance and integrity across the organisation. Nolan joins ARH from Zoro Tools, Inc., a subsidiary of W.W. Grainger, Inc., where she served as General Counsel and executive leadership team member. She helped guide the business through rapid growth and transformation. Before that, she spent more than 25 years at W.W. Grainger, most recently as Vice President and Associate General Counsel. Her experience spans technology and e-commerce, data protection, crisis management, global sourcing, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
