Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the administrative leader for the Sylvester Clinical Trials Office.
  • Provide operational and administrative oversight of all SCCC Clinical Research Services in alignment with Cancer Center leadership, the strategic plan, and Catchment Area needs.
  • Oversee Clinical Research Service funding with the AVP of Research Administration and SCCC Finance leader.
  • Support Clinical Research Service leaders through continuous evaluation and improvement efforts, including user surveys, progress reports, and annual reviews.
  • Set scientific priorities, strategic direction, and policy for Clinical Research.
  • Enhance communication and collaboration among Clinical Research leaders and assess resource and technology needs.
  • Evaluate existing and developing Clinical Resources leaders on strategy, service, funding, and fee structure.
  • Work with Cancer Center Administration on budget, financial, operational, space, and other administrative matters related to Clinical Research.
  • Chair regular meetings with Clinical Research staff to provide team vision, encourage retention and engagement, address operational issues, and solicit recommendations.
  • Represent SCCC Clinical Research in internal SCCC meetings and external meetings or conferences.
  • Collaborate with SCCC leadership to ensure Clinical Research supports and advances cancer research for all Cancer Center members.
  • Collaborate with Oncology Service Line and standard-of-care teams to support research patient operations and mitigate roadblocks.
  • Work with University committees and academic leaders to advocate for optimal, cost-effective access to Clinical Research services.
  • Promote acknowledgment of clinical research in publications and funding applications.
  • Provide Clinical Research productivity and current-state updates to senior leadership.
  • Lead assessment of the ongoing relevance of existing Clinical Research services and identify gaps.
  • Grow Population Sciences infrastructure and support its portfolio in alignment with the Center's strategic plan.
  • Support preparation of CPDM and PRMS sections of the Cancer Center Support Grant and other reports, grant submissions, and presentations.
  • Oversee clinical research committee support, including SDGs/CRTs, the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee, and the Data Safety Monitoring Committee.
  • Oversee the quality and training team to ensure staff meet national clinical-trial standards.
  • Provide administrative guidance and strategic planning support for research nursing.
  • Oversee clinical research laboratory operations, billing, compliance, trial-activation metrics, pre-PRMC timelines, study start-up support, and feasibility review.
  • Ensure protocol development support for investigator-initiated studies in alignment with faculty leaders.
  • Lead relationships with the University of Miami Office of Research Administration, Institutional Review Board, monitoring and auditing offices, and Clinical Research Management and Support Office.
  • Monitor clinical-trial financial management and lead process-improvement discussions with the Sylvester finance team.
  • Work with Human Resources on staff engagement, retention, team leadership, and proper staffing through business plans aligned with the Center strategic plan.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement training and development programs for leaders, staff, and users.
  • Oversee internal controls, risk assessment, safeguarding of assets, reporting reliability, and operational effectiveness.
