  • Knowledge of college resources, testing, general practices, and policies.
  • Knowledge of local youth resources.
  • Ability to keep accurate records, case notes, and student documents.
  • Ability to academically advise a large number of students.
  • Knowledge of and experience with community college enrollment and registration procedures.
  • Flexibility and ability to work a non-traditional work schedule.
  • Must have transportation, a driver's license, and insurance.
  • Must be fully fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Three or more years of experience working with at-risk youth ages 16-21.
  • Three years of experience working with community college counselors to help youth access and complete two-year college degrees.
  • Experience writing curriculum and preparing training materials for underserved students.
  • Experience working in a college environment.
  • Experience creating or revising high school curricula.
  • Experience teaching in a college setting.
  • An Associate of Arts degree is required.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must complete pre-hire and annual tuberculosis testing.
  • Annual employee health screening is required.
  • Annual influenza vaccination is required, except for approved medical or religious exemptions; exempt employees must wear a mask during flu season.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in outreach, recruitment, and assessment activities.
  • Assess applicants to determine program eligibility and complete enrollment, registration, and testing documentation.
  • Provide comprehensive case management to students to identify barriers to school success and develop strategies to overcome those barriers.
  • Assist youth in gaining access to services needed to overcome barriers and provide transportation when needed.
  • Meet with instructors as needed to assist struggling students and create plans for success.
  • Monitor student attendance and educational progress.
  • Teach a Career Development class, including creating and revising curriculum.
  • Provide academic advising for all U3 students.
  • Complete transcript evaluations as needed.
  • Attend assigned campus meetings and trainings.
  • Facilitate information meetings for the general public as assigned.
  • Conduct orientations for prospective students, including testing.
  • Maintain accurate files, current case notes, and required student documents.
  • Attend regular U3 team, agency, staff, and community meetings as assigned.
  • Drive to field locations as a routine part of the position.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree in human services is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication is preferred.
