Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.

Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones, route calls, take messages, provide general information, and greet and direct visitors and patients.
  • Process incoming mail and distribute correspondence and other materials to clinic staff.
  • Perform routine clerical assignments, including drafting correspondence, entering data, and printing letters, labels, reports, and other materials on a personal computer.
  • Copy and duplicate materials and prepare and transmit facsimiles for clinic staff when needed.
  • Establish, maintain, process, and update files, records, and documents.
  • Perform specialized routine clerical services in accordance with established procedural guidelines.
  • Run routine errands for the clinic when required.
  • Prepare patient charts for appointments, maintain the chart-filing system, assemble charts, and file laboratory, radiology, specialist, pharmacy, and hospital reports according to chart organization requirements.
  • File and retrieve medical records.
  • Record no-shows, reschedules, and cancellations; notify the appropriate provider and take necessary action.
  • Call patients to remind them of appointments on the preceding day.
  • Schedule clinic appointments by phone and in person, accommodate walk-in patients as appropriate, and consult providers or the Nurse Supervisor when necessary.
  • Check patients in for appointments.
  • Update patient information and verify documentation concerning notices, insurance, and financial information.
  • Receive payments and enter them into the computerized billing system.
  • Enter daily patient encounters into the computer.
  • Provide translation or interpretation as needed, when applicable.
  • Process daily reports as required.
  • Make bank deposits as necessary.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Six months of experience working in a medical or behavioral health clinic is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish ability is preferred.
