Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of human resources generalist experience.
  • Minimum five years of labor relations experience, including support of bargaining and grievance process handling and resolution experience.
  • Minimum three years conducting investigations.
  • Knowledge of contemporary human resources program management principles, practices, methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and statutes.
  • Knowledge of employee relations principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of collective bargaining processes and procedures and labor relations principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.
  • Skill in building strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Skill in conflict resolution and mediation.
  • Skill in negotiation and settlement of workplace disputes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide labor and employee relations consulting and support to managers and human resources partners.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with operations partners, union representatives, human resources colleagues, and other business partners to deliver strategic objectives and resolve issues.
  • Support investigations, governmental inquiries and charges, grievance administration and resolution, performance and absence management, complaints of unfair employment practices or discrimination, and disciplinary action.
  • Investigate employee issues and grievances and prepare reports to inform Human Resources Business Partners of next steps.
  • Act as liaison and counsel for employees and management on human resources issues to promote effective working relationships and consistency.
  • Provide day-to-day counsel and support to management on the application and interpretation of personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state labor requirements.
  • Prepare information interpreting contractual and legal issues for bargaining, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Research and assist in negotiating labor contracts.
  • Support negotiation teams by completing information requests, tracking documents and proposals, taking minutes at bargaining sessions, and coordinating bargaining-session scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, labor and employment laws, and regulatory requirements, and guide leaders through labor relations questions and concerns.
  • Manage human resources policies.
  • Coordinate collective bargaining activities with labor counsel and management, including research, assessments, meeting planning and facilitation, participation in bargaining sessions, note-taking, and recordkeeping.
  • Manage communications and interactions with union representatives and facilitate objective, fact-based discussions and practical, equitable issue resolution.
  • Design and implement strategies to address labor relations challenges.
  • Monitor labor relations activity, maintain accurate files and records, track labor relations metrics, analyze data, and provide recommendations to address opportunities.
  • Identify labor relations training and development needs, create learning materials, and deliver education and training to managers and employees.
  • Conduct research, perform or support interviews and investigations, document findings, maintain confidentiality and privileged information, escalate issues as appropriate, and provide accurate briefings.
  • Independently manage and prioritize work and complete projects, providing updates or reports to human resources managers and stakeholders.
  • Research and collect data and prepare professional presentations, recommendations, and reports.
  • Collaborate with human resources, legal, and other departments to develop and maintain labor relations policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the human resources team and stakeholders to improve employee experiences across the employment lifecycle.
  • Participate in engagement functions to build and foster employee engagement.
  • Support and represent the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Desired Qualifications
  • Healthcare human resources experience.
  • Additional specialized training and/or education in human resources.
  • Experience with Workday Human Capital Management.
  • Professional human resources certification, such as Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources, SHRM Certified Professional, or SHRM Senior Certified Professional.
