Requirements
  • An associate degree in a technical or scientific field, or relevant technical, engineering, electronics, communications, information technology, or military electronics training.
  • At least five years of hands-on specialized radio frequency communication systems experience.
  • Experience performing in-service sustainment engineering functions, including evaluation, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems, in Navy Global Broadcast Service or another shipboard communication systems program.
  • Ability to distinguish between colors, perform fine motor tasks, stand for extended periods, and lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interface effectively with technical and management personnel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret United States Department of Defense security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Perform technical sustainment support, sustainment engineering, modernization support, logistic support, and other SATCOM technical support services for Global Broadcast Service equipment, associated cryptographic equipment, and modems.
  • Provide Global Broadcast Service Program of Record activities, including SOVT, PICO, engineering and field changes, CASREP analysis in Information Technology Service Management, technical feedback reports, and engineering and technical reviews.
  • Conduct CONUS and OCONUS on-site technical assistance visits to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment issues, test systems, replace failed components, perform No Evidence of Failure testing, and support existing laboratory assets and sites.
  • Assist with Pre-Installation Check Out before installation.
  • Support software installation and system turnover processes, including pre-installation production and assembly, system testing, staging and shipping of installation materials, on-site installation, System Operational Verification Testing, training, and operational cutover.
  • Provide task status through prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to senior Navy personnel.
  • Develop written instructions, procedures, schematics, technical data deliverables, and applicable documentation.

  • At least three years of hands-on experience with Global Broadcast Service systems.
  • Experience with physical- and functional-level network configuration.
  • Experience with diagnostic and troubleshooting functions.
  • Experience with current Global Broadcast Service variants and their installations.
  • Experience using specialized test equipment required for Global Broadcast Service troubleshooting.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and troubleshooting aids.
  • Experience with the end-to-end architecture of each Global Broadcast Service variant.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior engineers and technicians.
