Requirements
  • A BA, BS, or CELTA degree.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in educational publishing or equivalent teaching experience in English language learning.
  • Excellent project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Advanced editing, proofing, written, and verbal skills.
  • Deep understanding of language-learning pedagogy to make content decisions.
  • Understanding of how to implement National Geographic Learning brand and content design principles.
  • Ability to help plan and follow a learning design plan.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality English-language content for the Secondary portfolio serving teenagers in grades 6–12 within the Global English Language Learning team.
  • Own a project team responsible for developing all aspects of one or more major series through all phases of development, in partnership with a Learning Designer, the Academic Design Manager, and the Senior Director of Academic Design.
  • Collaborate with a Learning Designer, Portfolio Manager, senior management, authors, and experts to build programs that meet course learning objectives and solve customer issues.
  • Identify, hire, and manage freelance authors, editors, and editorial vendors in partnership with Operations.
  • Develop content planning documents, guidelines, and prototypes for all components with Learning Designers.
  • Recommend innovative and effective pedagogical approaches based on market needs and feedback.
  • Develop project plans, including workflows, budgets, and schedules, with Print and Digital Production and the Academic Design Manager.
  • Estimate, plan, and communicate project progress to team members and senior managers to ensure timely, on-budget content delivery.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external teams, including Production, Creative Studio, Operations, Digital, freelancers, and writers.
  • Train and assist internal and external teams as the program requires.
  • Identify and suggest areas for change or improvement within projects.
  • Build an environment that encourages a motivated, committed, and engaged team.
  • Represent the Cengage Group Credo and Ethos in all actions and behaviors.

Cengage has announced new AI capabilities across its higher education learning platforms, including Student Assistant, Instructor Assistant, and enhanced features within MindTap. The integrated tools aim to develop critical thinking and communication skills alongside AI literacy. Student Assistant provides contextual coaching based on Cengage content rather than generating answers. Students who struggle early in courses and use the tool are 90% more likely to continue submitting assignments through the term. Instructor Assistant gives faculty insights into student difficulties, enabling earlier intervention. MindTap offers AI-enabled scenarios and video-based assignments for real-world skills practice. This autumn, Student Assistant and Instructor Assistant will be available across more than 800 higher education products. According to Cengage's 2026 research, 58% of instructors believe today's graduates are less prepared for work than students a decade ago.

Gale, part of Cengage, has launched Eighteenth Century Collections Online, Part III (ECCO III), adding 1.7 million previously undigitized pages to its existing 32-million-page archive. The collection includes early books, serials, newspapers and ephemera printed before 1801 from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. Built on the British Library's English Short Title Catalog, ECCO III features high-quality, full-colour imaging of rare materials including broadsides, maps and miniature books.
