Requirements
- Current Indiana license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
- Acute care experience or training is a plus.
- Ability to relate well with patients and other health care personnel.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Graduation from a certified Nurse Practitioner or related program that includes training and practice in the stated duties.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary health care services as a member of a health care team under the supervision of staff physicians.
- Manage health care for assigned patients and families.
- Perform health assessments, including thorough histories and physical examinations.
- Order or perform certain diagnostic tests.
- Evaluate psychosocial and family factors sufficient to make a general health assessment.
- Diagnose common acute and chronic conditions.
- Refer complex and high-priority cases to the physician on duty, including complicated diagnostic or therapeutic problems, serious illness, and chronic-condition re-evaluations.
- Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment.
- Provide patient education.
- Triage calls from nursing staff regarding patient issues.
- Complete required documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience providing medical care within a hospital or clinical environment.
