Compensation Overview

Turtle Rock Studios is looking for a Lead AI Engineer to join the team and work on our next big AAA title! The ideal candidate is one who is a great team player and is excited to push the limits on what it takes to make a great game!

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining AI quality, while respecting technical limitations and performance targets. 
• Provide mentorship and coaching for team members including but not limited to: 1:1s, career developments, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
• Work closely with the Gameplay Tech Director and design teams to craft memorable gameplay experiences
• Author AI behaviors for in-game characters
• Work with design team to create playable spaces conducive to AI interaction
• Revise and tune characters based on design goals and playtest feedback
• Profile and optimize code to meet memory and CPU budgets
• Proactively diagnose and fix bugs in AI and character systems
• Playtest with both the studio and the AI team to review and develop AI characters

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms
• Strong leadership, mentorship, and teaching abilities
• Comfortable working directly with designers in an iterative environment
• Solid understanding of different aspects of game AI (navigation, behavior, etc)
• At least one shipped game
• Experience developing for modern consoles
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Solid math skills

Preferences

• Previous work on Multiplayer Action Games and FPS’s a plus
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering
• Unreal Engine 4 experience
• Shipped a console game

The estimated base pay range for this role is:

$140,000—$195,000 USD
