Requirements
  • Ability to lead and supervise a crew performing meter and water/wastewater infrastructure work.
  • Ability to perform meter accuracy, pressure, and flow testing and install or replace meter vaults.
  • Ability to conduct preventative maintenance and aged meter replacements.
  • Ability to investigate service connection problems and resolve customer complaints.
  • Ability to perform chlorine residual testing and resize service connections.
  • Ability to safely access metering sites and perform emergency repairs on water and wastewater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily crew activities to complete assigned work orders.
  • Lead the repair, replacement, or adjustment of small to medium size meters measuring 2 inches and greater.
  • Diagnose, repair, or replace automated meter infrastructure.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on water mains, water services, water taps, fire hydrants, valves, sewer mains, sewer services, manholes, and cleanouts.
  • Spot-check the work and job-site locations of people being led.
  • Supervise multiple subordinates, including hiring, disciplining, evaluating, and training them.
  • Assist the Meter Services Crew Chief with tasks related to large meters.
  • Assist Meter Reading in facilitating safe access to metering sites.
  • Assist other meter service workers with difficult tasks as directed.
  • Perform emergency repairs and preventative services on water and wastewater infrastructure, including water services, automated meter infrastructure, fire hydrants, valves, and manholes.
