Job Summary/Purpose: The Nursing Professional Development Specialist I reports to the Director of Nursing Excellence and the Manager of Clinical Excellence Education. Under indirect supervision, the Nursing Professional Development Specialist I consults with the Nursing leadership, ICCE, organizational leadership and interprofessional team to lead, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, quality and educational programs and activities that promote professional competency and role performance for nursing, interprofessional and non-licensed clinical staff.
Minimum Training, Education, Licensure/Certifications:
MSN or DNP/PhD required; if BSN, then graduate degree in related field from an accredited college/university required. A minimum of 5 years of nursing work experience required (three years of nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience).
Certification in nursing leadership within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.
Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
