Requirements
  • A California Professional Land Surveyor license is required.
  • At least 12 years of experience in surveying, civil engineering, or related fields is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing and guiding office surveyors and survey technicians is required.
  • Expertise using, configuring, troubleshooting, procuring, and repairing survey equipment such as theodolites, total stations, drones, and Global Positioning System/Global Navigation Satellite System equipment is required.
  • Expertise with survey software, including Geographic Information System/Global Positioning System tools, aerial and non-aerial cartography, and data collectors, is required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, PDF software such as Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project is required.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in new software and technologies is required.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is required.
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment are required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and take direction is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision is required.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach and initiative are required.
  • Ability to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • A valid California driver's license and insurable driving record are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the Roseville office surveyors and survey technicians as they develop solutions to technical problems, and oversee work production and quality control.
  • Provide daily assignments and technical guidance to survey staff.
  • Manage surveying service functions such as drafting, survey support, field surveying, and document control.
  • Ensure the timely, thorough, and accurate completion of survey services projects.
  • Ensure survey deliverables and documentation packages are complete.
  • Maintain project number assignments and customer documentation.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor employees; manage project budgets and schedules; and design administrative procedures for the survey department.
  • Write performance reviews and resolve internal issues.
  • Provide party chief services for boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA Surveys, and construction staking.
  • Perform in-office survey and mapping calculations and plans and prepare construction staking cut sheets.
  • Perform survey mapping and field work while using Quality Assurance/Quality Control checklists for survey deliverables.
  • Maintain at least a 70% utilization rate, stay within task budgets, and maintain quality control.
  • Develop new business from new and existing clients.
  • Write proposal scope and approach narratives and develop cost and fee estimates.
  • Keep current with state-of-the-art survey techniques.
  • Maintain relationships with team members, sub-consultants, vendors, and clients.
  • Communicate project expectations to team members and sub-consultants clearly and promptly.
  • Act as liaison with project stakeholders.
  • Develop new business relationships to broaden the firm's client base.
  • Travel for field visits, survey activities, and consultations with clients and agencies.

  • Knowledge of land Geographic Information Systems and boundary law.
  • Familiarity with surveying for subdivisions, planned unit developments, and parcel maps.
  • High attention to detail, flexibility, and adaptability to work in varying conditions.
