  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, (Construction Management, Mechanical) or technical training is required. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of experience in Mechanical Trades estimating with major mechanical contractors (commercial or institutional, i.e. not residential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as collaboration skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QuoteSoft (or similar) and Microsoft Office.
  • Passion to continuously learn about new technologies impacting the mechanical industry and associated cost is required.
  • Ideal candidate will have OSHPD/HCAI experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have Design/Build experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have DBIA Associate or Professional certification.
  • LEED certification a plus.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in BMS Controls systems.
  • Experience as an HVAC/Plumbing designer a plus.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical trades installation, estimating and cost control techniques.
  • Capable of reading schematics and blueprints
Responsibilities
  • Prepare conceptual cost models/budgets for the Mechanical Trades (HVAC/Plumbing/Piping/Fire Protection) from minimal design information.
  • Prepare detailed estimates as the documents progress in design.
  • Prepare detailed instructions to bidders as part of the procurement process.
  • Solicit, receive, analyze proposals/bids from HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection subcontractors.
  • Recommend award and prepare subcontracts.
  • Reviews basis of design, plans and specifications.
  • Assists design team in ensuring documents are biddable, constructible and cost effective.
  • Writes instructions to bidders to cleanly document the scope of work we want included and excluded with the goal of avoiding change orders.
  • Evaluates bids and conducts post bid interviews.
  • Evaluates change orders as requested.
  • Coordinates with the Vice President of Estimating, Preconstruction Executive, or Senior Estimator in the assignment of project related responsibilities to Estimating/Preconstruction Staff.
  • Plans and communicates to project estimating team, in cooperation with project Estimating team, the vital goals of assigned projects in a project kick-off meeting using a prepared agenda based on the Project Kick-off Meeting Checklist.
  • Works with the Document Control staff on the distribution of project documents and vital project information to appropriate members of the project team and outside resources.
  • Reviews, interprets, quantifies, accurately estimates cost, and critically analyzes the work described in the project documents.
  • Identifies and mitigates project related risk.
  • Uses a checklist to ensure that all required tasks associated with assigned project are attended to in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates, directs, and follows-up with project estimating team to ensure timely completion of tasks associated with assigned projects.
  • Coordinates with Logistics and MEP Managers to accomplish vital project goals.
  • Solicits, collects and critically analyzes Subcontractor/Vendor budgets, bids or quotations associated with assigned projects or packages.
  • Reviews and verifies Scope of Work and pricing (Subcontractor Analysis Sheets) of other project team members when acting as project mechanical lead estimator.
  • Uses accepted templates for the preparation of estimates and clarifications, analysis of bids, calculation of alternates, and other tasks.
  • Presents the project scope of work, estimated costs, risks and opportunities to management during the final review of assigned estimates.
  • Participates in the presentation of proposals, budgets, etc. to clients and prospective clients.
  • Participates in the delivery of appropriate project files for assigned projects to Operations Staff during a project turnover meeting using the Turnover Meeting Agenda and Checklist.
  • Participates and coordinates participation of project estimating team in the buyout process with operations.
  • Creates professional, accurate reports and correspondence related to this position including project clarifications, cover letters, transmittals, client and subcontractor correspondence, inter-office correspondence, e-mail, etc.
  • Participates in the completion of all required paperwork for bids or proposals (such as bid forms, bonding requirements, etc.).
  • Required Job Skills:
  • Demonstrates a level of competency of at least “well experienced” on all core competency categories associated with Mechanical Estimator and Senior Mechanical Estimator positions.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communications and team skills.

Tutor Perini shares fell 7.5% despite beating analyst expectations in its fourth-quarter results. The civil construction firm reported earnings of $1.07 per share on sales exceeding $1.5 billion, surpassing forecasts of $0.62 per share on $1.35 billion revenue. The company's fourth-quarter sales surged 41% year over year, whilst full-year revenue reached a record $5.5 billion, up 28%. Free cash flow increased 22% to $567.3 million. Tutor Perini guided 2026 earnings between $4.90 and $5.30 per share, representing 19% growth at the midpoint and exceeding Wall Street's $4.82 estimate. The stock trades at 16.3 times pro forma profits and 7.7 times trailing free cash flow, despite the post-earnings decline.

Diluted earnings per share reached $1.51, compared to a loss of $3.13 in 2024, whilst adjusted EPS was $4.29. The company reduced total debt by $126.8 million, or 24%, during the year, including full payoff of its Term Loan B. Tutor Perini's backlog stood at $20.6 billion as of 31st December 2025, up 10% year-over-year. For 2026, the company expects double-digit revenue growth and adjusted EPS between $4.90 and $5.30.

Tutor Perini, a general contracting company, will report fourth-quarter earnings tomorrow after market close. Analysts expect revenue to grow 26.7% year-on-year, an improvement from the 4.5% increase recorded in the same quarter last year. The company beat revenue expectations last quarter, reporting $1.42 billion in revenues, up 30.7% year-on-year. However, Tutor Perini has missed Wall Street's revenue estimates multiple times over the past two years. Analysts have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days. The company's share price has risen 9.2% over the past month, outperforming the construction and maintenance services segment's average gain of 5.3%. The average analyst price target stands at $91.50, compared to the current share price of $86.61.

Tutor Perini subsidiary stamps $35.8M USACE contract. Tutor Perini Management Services will build a 56,000-square-foot tool and die facility at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middleton. A Tutor Perini subsidiary has stamped out a new contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Tutor Perini Management Services, a unit of the Los Angeles-based contractor, has won a $35.8 million job for the construction of a new tool and die facility at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa, according to a news release. The facility will encompass approximately 56,000 square feet of industry space. Scope includes: * Site development. * Utilities and infrastructure. * Structural steel and concrete systems. * Architectural finishes. * HVAC and plumping. * Fire protection systems. * Electrical distribution and lighting. * A facility-scale solar photovoltaic system. * Telecommunications and electronic security systems. * Installation of overhead bridge cranes. The project will also relocate equipment from an existing facility and will be designed to meet LEED Silver certification. Tutor Perini's various business units have regularly helped the heavy civil contractor diversify across geographies and different project types. In 2024, the U.S. Air Force tapped Black Construction, the firm's Guam-based subsidiary, for a $74.4 million child development center at Andersen Air Force Base on the island. In September, its Black River Falls, Wisconsin-based subsidiary Lunda Construction landed a $60.2 million dam rehab project from forestry products company Domtar to update a 113-year-old structure in Rothschild, Wisconsin. Work on the Iowa tool and die facility commenced last month. The firm anticipates substantial completion in June 2027.
