Requirements
  • Prior coaching experience and the ability to teach and motivate athletes are required.
  • Possess First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification or be willing to obtain it.
  • Model a personal commitment to Jesus Christ, participate in a local Bible-believing church, and affirm and abide by the school's Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrate coaching knowledge of the sport, including motivation, strategies, and tactics, and the ability to supervise assistant coaches and volunteers.
  • Be organized and able to monitor multiple student-athletes and activities simultaneously.
  • Be able to stand and walk for extended periods and demonstrate sport-specific skills, drills, and techniques as needed.
  • Be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Be able to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and wind, depending on the sport and season.
Responsibilities
  • Exhibit appropriate and professional conduct during games and practices.
  • Interact respectfully with game officials, opposing coaches, and players.
  • Maintain positive appearance, manners, behavior, and language.
  • Conduct personal life consistently with Northwest Christian values and expectations.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all practices and games.
  • Maintain required Washington Interscholastic Activities Association certifications, continuing education clock hours, and current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid training.
  • Attend school, league, district, and state meetings as required.
  • Adhere to school, league, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Implement Biblically based Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions through regular devotions and teachable moments.
  • Foster unity of purpose among program coaches and support high-caliber instruction.
  • Develop positive mentoring relationships with players and maintain positive relationships with parents.
  • Provide locker-room and bus supervision for athletes.
  • Ensure athlete safety during practices and games and handle injury situations appropriately.
  • Work with the Head Coach on assigned team responsibilities.
  • Support the Head Coach in developing spiritual, athletic, and academic program goals.
  • Communicate positively with coaches, players, and parents.
  • Track, maintain, and store inventory and equipment with the Head Coach.
