Responsibilities
  • Translate the company’s PR and communications strategy—set by the SVP, Head of Marketing—into clear annual, quarterly, and campaign-level plans that advance brand visibility, thought leadership, and business objectives.
  • Own the day-to-day execution of corporate and product PR initiatives across earned, owned, and shared channels, ensuring consistent messaging and strong cross-functional coordination.
  • Lead the development of thought leadership programs, including original research, surveys, and insight-driven narratives that increase brand authority, support earned media, and create opportunities for executive visibility.
  • Build and manage a leadership speaker strategy, including proactive speaker bureau initiatives, conference opportunities, award submissions, and executive platform development.
  • As a key member of our Brand Team, expand and operationalize a broader earned and influence channel strategy across media, podcasts, YouTube, newsletters, and other high-value platforms relevant to our audiences.
  • Maintain an integrated communications calendar spanning launches, announcements, awards, executive speaking, research moments, and key industry tentpoles.
  • Increase brand awareness through targeted, corporate, and product-focused PR programs.
  • Build and manage relationships with key media contacts in the financial services, fintech, and retirement industries.
  • Proactively identify PR opportunities, develop compelling story angles, and pitch relevant narratives to media.
  • Respond to inbound media inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and on-message responses.
  • Research, write, and edit high-quality communications materials including press releases, media pitches, talking points, bylines, blog posts, FAQs, and Q&As.
  • Partner with senior leaders to craft clear, compelling messaging that reflects our brand, positioning, and differentiated value.
  • Support the development of thought leadership content (e.g., articles, commentary, reports, speaking points) that elevates our presence with key audiences.
  • Manage award submissions from end-to-end, including sourcing opportunities, drafting submissions, and tracking results.
  • Identify, evaluate, and coordinate executive speaking opportunities at industry conferences, webinars, and events.
  • Prepare executives for external engagements through briefing docs, messaging frameworks, and rehearsal support.
  • Support internal communications initiatives that keep employees informed, aligned, and connected to company priorities.
  • Draft internal memos, announcements, and leadership communications that translate complex topics into clear, accessible updates.
  • Partner closely with HR, Marketing, and the broader leadership team to reinforce company values, culture, and key business initiatives.
  • Define and track KPIs for PR and communications programs (e.g., share of voice, media coverage quality, message pull-through, engagement).
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant policy or regulatory developments to inform communications plans.
  • Synthesize results and insights into regular reporting for senior leadership, recommending adjustments to improve impact.
  • Manage relationships with agencies and vendors as needed, ensuring alignment with strategy, brand standards, and timelines.

Vestwell, a financial technology company providing workplace savings solutions, has raised $385 million in Series E funding. The round was led by funds managed by Blue Owl Capital and Sixth Street Growth, with participation from new and existing investors. Part of the proceeds will support Vestwell's acquisition of Accrue 401k. The company offers a comprehensive suite of workplace savings products, including retirement plans, student loan repayment benefits and specialised accounts for education, emergencies and disability savings. Simpson Thacher represented Sixth Street Growth in the transaction. The legal team included Katherine Krause, Louis Argentieri and Christopher Haughey on mergers and acquisitions, Jennifer Albrecht on banking and credit, Erica Rozow on executive compensation, and David Blass and Meredith Abrams on asset management.

Carta partners with Vestwell, Morgan Stanley on retirement planning service. Carta 401(k) provides retirement guidance to high-growth companies using technology from Vestwell and oversight from Morgan Stanley. Reported by Carta Inc., a provider of enterprise resource planning for private capital, announced Tuesday the launch of Carta 401(k), a retirement plan that includes guidance and oversight from Morgan Stanley's Institutional Consulting Solutions, as well as business and recordkeeping technology from Vestwell. According to the announcement, the service is geared toward high-growth companies. Carta customers will be able to access Vestwell's artificial intelligence-powered retirement platform, which includes more than 200 payroll systems and can set up automated contributions. Morgan Stanley's partnership gives Carta customers access to curated and managed investment portfolios. Morgan Stanley will also assist in streamlining fiduciary processes and provide administrative support for Carta 401(k). "By embedding retirement directly within Carta's ecosystem, we're turning what was once a standalone benefit into a fully-integrated part of the wealth journey by offering innovative savings tools to help teams get better control of and visibility into their investments without adding operational complexity," Vestwell CEO Aaron Schumm said in a statement. According to the announcement, Carta 401(k) includes a transparent fee structure designed for scaling, with no hidden assets-under-management penalties, and that is intended to maximize SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 tax credits that can offset setup and administration costs for up to three years. "By launching the Carta 401(k), we're making sophisticated, low-cost retirement plans once reserved for big enterprises available to every startup, with the simplicity and transparency they expect," said Carta CEO Henry Ward in a statement. Carta works with 50,000 companies in more than 160 countries. Carta's fund administration platform supports more than 8,800 funds and special purpose vehicles, representing more than $203 billion in assets under management.

The New York-based startup's valuation has doubled since its December 2023 Series D, when Crunchbase reported a $1 billion post-money valuation. Founded in 2016, Vestwell now has over $200 million in annual recurring revenue and administers more than $50 billion in assets for 2 million active savers across 500,000 businesses. The company grew nearly 50% year-over-year whilst operating profitably. Vestwell connects fragmented savings programmes—including retirement, education, emergency and disability accounts—into one platform. It partners with financial institutions and HR platforms like JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Intuit QuickBooks. The funding will expand distribution and AI-native capabilities.
