Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology. Prepares materials and equipment. Compiles data. Demonstrates techniques. Maintains equipment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Handles several stem cell lines to ensure homogeneity and health of cell lines
Handles many stem cell lines at one time to ensure experimental accuracy
Ensures reagents are prepared and ready to use
Prepares plates for stem cell expansion
Coordinates with hospitals about receiving sample
Extracts cells from blood
Induces and differentiates stem cells to neural cell fates
Handles organoids and neural differentiation
Performs experiments to assess output measures of brain-like cells such as microscopy (ICC), qCPR and western blots
Prepares nucleic acids for NGS experiments

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Proficient in preparing and maintaining stem cell culture reagents and expansion plates
Skilled in extracting cells from blood
Experience handling neural organoids and executing differentiation protocols
Proficient in microscopy techniques, qPCR, and western blotting
Ability to prepare high-quality nucleic acids for next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows
