B.S. or equivalent experience in computer science/related field
Experience making architectural and design-related decisions for large scale platforms, understanding the tradeoffs between time-to-market vs. flexibility
Experience hiring and mentoring engineers across multiple levels
Experience initiating and driving complex projects to completion with minimal guidance
Experience building a variety of applications ranging from low latency APIs to large scale batch systems, preferably in public cloud, using cloud native services
Working with or partnering with data science teams is a big plus
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike

Lead one or more dev teams of strong, engaged engineers. Manage, mentor and coach team members at multiple career levels
Partner as a thought leader with your product and marketing peers to define the vision for your platform and build the roadmap for your team
Execute and own all aspects of software development for your team - design, development and deployment
Use depth and breadth of technical expertise to ensure platforms being built are scalable, maintainable and extensible
Demonstrate strong motivation and drive to continuously improve the effectiveness of your team and platform

Who We Are

The MarTech Engineering team is responsible for building Wayfair’s class leading, data centric technology platform that optimizes and powers all of Wayfair’s advertising. It touches hundreds of millions of consumers and drives billions of dollars in annual revenue. Our platforms allow us to scale our marketing efforts efficiently by automating key processes, interacting with ad vendors in real time and leveraging hundreds of terabytes of data and ML algorithms for optimization and effective decision making on millions of items in our catalog. The types of systems built by this team range from low latency REST and Graph QL APIs, to streaming systems processing billions of daily events in real time to large scale batch systems. This role provides a great opportunity for strong leaders to drive significant business impact, working closely with business teams, technology teams and data science teams to build innovative technology platforms.

What You’ll Do
