Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • The candidate must complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • The candidate must analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • The candidate must process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • The candidate must be able to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • The candidate must maintain relevant credentials, licenses, and Basic Life Support certification.
  • The candidate must be able to safely perform blood drawing.
Responsibilities
  • Collect patient assessment data and notify appropriate nurses of actual or potential problems and ongoing patient needs.
  • Record patient information concisely, accurately, and completely.
  • Administer medications and perform assigned treatments and procedures for patients.
  • Assist with preparation of patient materials or correspondence used by registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, or medical doctors to communicate with organizations inside or outside the University.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative health teaching for patients and families.
  • Share responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
  • Participate in team conferences by sharing knowledge, information, and ideas with team members.
  • Perform more complex nursing activities as competence increases.
  • Communicate frequently with team leaders regarding patients’ physical and mental conditions.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies, procedures, and safeguards for University assets.
  • Perform patient intake and attend clinics.
  • Call pharmacies for prescription refills.
  • Obtain laboratory results and medical records.
  • Prepare charts by reviewing prior orders and ensuring that results are obtained.
  • Prepare patients and assist providers with treatments and examinations.
  • Relate effectively to other staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Obtain authorizations for medicines and procedures.
  • Participate in all phases of education and maintenance of records.
  • Travel to other clinics for coverage, in or out of the medical campus.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
  • Provide school notes and documents necessary for follow-up visits.
  • Ensure that new initiatives are implemented and goals are met.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year of experience is preferred.
