Requirements
  • PhD in chemistry or related discipline with 8+ years of experience working with oligonucleotide therapeutics (siRNA, ASOs, etc.) in the biopharmaceutical industry; or BS/MS with 12+ years
  • Ideal candidate will have experience developing peptide-, protein-, or antibody-oligonucleotide conjugates while effectively operating in cross-functional, collaborative environments
  • Adept in state-of-the-art conjugation (cysteine-maleimide, click chemistry, site-specific, etc.), purification (HPLC, SEC, IEX, etc.), and analytical (HPLC, LCMS, etc.) methods to prepare oligonucleotide conjugates
  • Experience managing both internal personnel and external CROs to advance oligonucleotide therapeutics
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to plan and coordinate in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate oligonucleotide and/or antibody/peptide-conjugate modalities
  • Imperative that this individual be an effective communicator and proven team-builder, mentor, motivator, and manager

Responsibilities
  • Oversee chemistry aspects of the development of oligonucleotide conjugates for biological evaluation in our targeted delivery platform
  • Manage external chemical synthesis activities which may include oligonucleotide synthesis; small-molecule, lipid, and peptide ligand synthesis; linker synthesis; and oligonucleotide-conjugate synthesis
  • Build internal lab capabilities and lead a team of conjugation and analytical scientists to prepare, purify, and analytically characterize oligonucleotide conjugates, particularly antibody-oligonucleotide conjugates
  • Work cross-functionally with protein engineers and biologists to ensure timely and adequate preparation of oligonucleotide conjugates for biological evaluation as well as to contribute to the design of in vitro and in vivo studies
  • Contribute to intellectual property around the design of oligonucleotides and oligonucleotide conjugates for the company
  • Work closely with company leadership, contributing to scientific strategy and assisting in preparing materials (data reviews, presentation decks) for internal and external constituents; participate in external discussions, as directed
  • Stay current with emerging oligonucleotide and delivery fields for translation into platform-relevant hypotheses
  • The Director, Oligonucleotide and Conjugation Chemistry should be a doer with a “roll up their sleeves” mentality while having the ability to manage people and interpret complex scientific data efficiently and effectively
  • This person should have proven experience in oligonucleotide conjugate delivery platforms and other nucleic acid-based delivery methods with a significant background in chemistry and/or protein engineering
  • This person must demonstrate exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills, and take novel ideas from concept to rigorous, demonstrable results
  • Key qualifications included in this position note that base salary range reflects good faith estimate and may include annual bonus and long-term incentives
  • This position is based on-site at the company’s headquarters in Cambridge, MA

Biotech firm Adcendo raises oversubscribed $75M Series C led by JEITO Capital

Adcendo, a biotech company developing antibody-drug conjugates for cancer treatment, has raised $75 million in an oversubscribed Series C round. The funding was led by JEITO Capital, with participation from new investors Vida Ventures, BPI France and EIFO, alongside existing backers including TCGX, RA Capital Management, TPG and Novo Holdings. The Copenhagen-based company will use the proceeds to advance multiple clinical milestones from its ADC pipeline, which focuses on treatments for cancers with high unmet medical need. Gorrissen Federspiel advised Adcendo on the transaction, with a team led by Niels Bang, Caroline Helene Krestine Boysen and Andreas Nystrup Hoxer Gregersen.

Since launching in January 2025, Windward Bio has in-licensed 2 clinical-stage assets, raised $365 million, and rapidly advanced both programmes[RW1] in the clinic. WIN378, the lead programme, is a next-generation, fully human monoclonal antibody that potently binds to the thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) ligand. This well-validated cytokine plays a key role in the development and progression of a wide array of immunological diseases. WIN378 has the potential to be the first-to-market, ultra long-acting anti-TSLP antibody with twice-yearly dosing. The financing will accelerate the development of WIN378, which is currently being studied in the Phase 2/3 POLARIS programme in asthma. The Phase 2 dose-ranging component of POLARIS is fully recruited, with initial data expected in the second half of 2026. The first Phase 3 study of WIN378 is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Phase 2 SIRIUS study in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is anticipated to start in the second quarter of 2026. WIN027, the second programme, is a highly potent, long-acting bispecific antibody targeting both TSLP and interleukin-13 (IL-13) - two well-validated and synergistic drivers of inflammation in severe asthma, COPD, and atopic dermatitis. WIN027 is currently in a Phase 1 study with data readout expected by the end of 2026. The financing will support multiple proof-of-concept studies across respiratory and dermatology indications starting in in the fourth quarter of 2026. It has been studied in a Phase 1 trial, which confirmed an extended half-life suitable for twice-yearly dosing, demonstrated a low rate of antidrug antibodies, and was safe and well tolerated up to the highest dose tested. WIN378 is administered subcutaneously. Windward Bio licensed the global rights (excluding Greater China and several Southeast and West Asian countries) for WIN378 from Kelun Biotech (also known as SKB378) and Harbour BioMed (also known as HBM9378). WIN378 is currently being evaluated in the POLARIS Phase 2/3 asthma study with initial readouts expected in the second half of 2026. A Phase 2 study in COPD is anticipated to begin in the second quarter of 2026. About WIN027 WIN027 is a potential best-in-class, humanised bispecific monoclonal antibody with subpicomolar affinity for TSLP and IL-13, well-validated targets in immunological conditions. It has been engineered to achieve an extended half-life and enable less frequent dosing. Through this dual, long-acting inhibition, WIN027 is designed to set a new standard of efficacy in conditions such as asthma, COPD, and atopic dermatitis, potentially delivering deeper and more durable disease control than existing biologics. WIN027 is currently in Phase 1. Windward Bio licensed the global rights (excluding Greater China) for WIN027 from Qyuns Therapeutics (also known as QX027N).
