Requirements
  • A high school degree is required.
  • At least three years of experience designing and leading life-enrichment activities for seniors in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and/or Memory Care settings is required.
  • Creativity, empathy, patience, and passion for helping others.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to motivate.
  • Knowledge of various computer systems, particularly Excel, Word, and Canva.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Provide an ongoing program of life-enrichment activities designed to meet each resident’s interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Plan, organize, communicate, and coordinate activities with residents individually or in groups, including special events.
  • Serve as part of the management team to ensure policies and procedures are understood, trained, and implemented.
  • Oversee hiring, training, and management of activity assistants, coordinators, transportation drivers, and potentially the transportation department.
  • Provide direct oversight of life-enrichment activities, outings, and programs inside and outside the community.
  • Create and lead arts, crafts, music, drama, educational, and exercise activities.
  • Prepare a monthly newsletter, activity calendar, and monthly activity meetings using creativity and photography skills.
  • Hire, train, and supervise Resident Lifestyle Assistants, Coordinators, and Drivers.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers when appropriate.
  • Encourage resident participation and celebrate resident achievements.
  • Obtain necessary equipment and supplies and maintain their accessibility through organized storage.
  • Work with Marketing to assist with planning marketing events to promote the community.
  • Participate with the Executive Director in developing the department budget.
  • Foster family and community support for the activity program through newsletters, networking, and activities.
  • Contribute to the community’s efforts to maintain or improve quality of care through participation.
  • Coordinate resident transportation to and from events outside the community, including driving a company vehicle when required.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree or higher in gerontology, business, human services, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least one year of leadership experience in senior living, hospitality, or healthcare management in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Training or at least one year of dementia care experience is a plus for memory care communities.
  • Previous event planning experience is strongly preferred.
