About the Role:
The business development lead will join our growing business development team focused on making a positive impact on the world by selling Kitware’s technical services and R&D expertise to solve customers’ challenges. Kitware provides advanced R&D services in AI, computer vision, medical computing, scientific computing, data management, and software process for a variety of customers in the federal government, academic institutions, and industry. The business development lead is responsible for developing and managing the people and processes that help Kitware sell technical services to customers. The successful candidate will be passionate about technology, a strong and outgoing communicator, and a self-starter capable of driving collaboration to tackle complex projects.
In This Position You Will:
- Manage the processes and people responsible for responding to incoming commercial sales leads. Ensure that the leads are effectively matched with the correct technical project lead at Kitware, evaluated for fit with our services, and processed in a timely manner to result in a signed contract with a customer.
- Work closely with the marketing team to drive outbound marketing/business development initiatives. Develop a high-level understanding of the technology; assist with research needed to evaluate opportunities and understand market needs; work with technical leads at Kitware to ensure our services meet the market needs; and develop and execute plans for reaching potential customers of our services using broad-based marketing and by identifying and contacting targeted potential customers.
- Ensure that all relevant business development data is captured, analyzed, reported, and used to drive improvements. Track Kitware’s business development activities against plan, and produce monthly reports for Kitware leadership. Participate in the annual goal-setting process to establish commercial business development goals for the upcoming year.
- Ensure that all reporting requirements related to business development activities are met. This includes tracking the commercialization of technology developed with government funds.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree; an MBA or a graduate degree in a STEM field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience related to the job duties above.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A passion for technology, and a talent for clearly communicating complex concepts.
Salary Range:
- $120K to $180K depending on qualifications and experience.
