- High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school is required, unless the applicant has at least one year of verifiable and applicable Certified Medical Assistant work experience in a patient care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Certification is required.
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant through an accepted certifying agency is required.
- Perform patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory setting.
- Participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
- Communicate professionally with patients and family members and collaborate with administrative and operations staff.
- Gather patient data through interviews and observation.
- Prepare patients and families for examinations.
- Assist physicians or Advanced Practice Providers during examinations and procedures.
- Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication types.
- Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to organizational and department policies.
- Act as a patient liaison to schedule specialty testing and physician consultations and provide scheduling information.
- Process incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using clinical judgment.
- Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction.
- Follow organizational, departmental, patient safety, infection control, medical/legal, patient rights, regulatory, and accrediting standards.
- Use supplies efficiently.
- Assist the business office with reception, scheduling, and patient discharge as needed.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with applicable policies and standards.
