Requirements
  • Associate's degree and 1 years’ experience or 3 years’ equivalent experience without a degree.
  • Candidate must be able to acquire active dangerous goods shipment certifications (49 CFR Parts 100-185 and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Shipments) as a mandatory requirement for this position.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must also be able to satisfy federal government requirement for access to government information; having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
  • Individual must be able to pass background investigation and be granted access/clearance to Marshall Space Flight Center; and will also be required to undergo and pass a drug test.
  • Must possess a Real ID (either a valid state driver’s license with Star, a current U.S. Passport, or an active DoD issued ID).
  • Must possess proficient writing skills, and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum guidance and direction, to include prioritizing work while handling numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and database management systems.
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry 20 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, sit for long periods, have full dexterity, and correctable vision.
  • Must comply with personnel requirements included in a Collective Bargaining Agreement Collective Bargaining Agreement (IUE CWA Local 83783).
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates scheduling of outgoing freight and personal property to meet customer delivery requirements; selects appropriate carrier and mode of shipment based on customer requirements; provide alternate shipment methods upon request.
  • Prepares shipping documents for domestic and international shipments, to include accurate dangerous/hazardous material shipping documents.
  • Inputs data and maintains automated records on shipments, processed invoices, and costs; and develops transportation statistical data, reports, correspondence, with supporting graphs and charts.
  • Initiates claim actions on damaged freight.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in digital-based supply management systems with working knowledge of digital-controlled supply systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Government supply systems, programs, policies, and work methods a plus.
