Requirements
  • Bring 5+ years of relevant work experience (such as in management consulting or business operations; as a COO or Chief of Staff; or an entrepreneurial career)
  • Have a history of collaborating with C-suite or VP-level executives and have managed top-priority, cross-functional projects
  • Are confident in speaking candidly and being honest with superiors when necessary
  • Are a structured, analytical thinker able to apply a generalist mindset to diverse business problems, deriving insights, prioritizing, and articulate trade-offs
  • Are an intrepid executor who can roll with the punches and is comfortable navigating ambiguity and disorder when business outcomes are on the line
  • Have exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, listening)
  • Lead with curiosity versus assumptions, are a good reader of people, have experience coaching/mediating, and can build rapport quickly with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Are comfortable with being a servant leader, enabling our CEO and executive team to thrive on the basis of your efforts without regular public recognition
  • Can be trusted to hold confidential and sensitive information
Responsibilities
  • Provide leverage to the CEO: whether as thought partner, proxy, observer, confidant, or coach, you'll help make the most critical decisions to ensure continued company success
  • Step in to own key initiatives as needed; examples from our first CoS's tenure include providing interim functional management during an exec transition; launching a new business unit; revamping the cadence and content of our planning cycle; and building out our scholarship programs
  • Serve as the quarterback for company planning, holding leaders accountable for executing and reporting on their top priorities; this includes running our weekly executive team meeting, OKR definition and reporting, and bi-annual planning
  • Manage important internal and external communications - from company-wide town halls and executive team meetings to investor updates and Board presentations
  • Support the CEO's top priorities, including fundraising (materials, due diligence, timelines) and corporate development
  • Keep your ears to the ground, understanding team and market sentiment to gather and share appropriate insights with the leadership team
