Requirements
  • Strong personal Christian values and high moral character
  • Creative program ability, strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to be a team member and function in a work-alone situation to complete tasks
  • Intermediate level computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook )
  • Valid Driver’s License and able to drive a 12-passenger van, as well as qualify for the Salvation Army.
  • A uniform-wearing Salvationist preferred
  • Musical ability preferred, but not a must
  • You must be able to obtain clearances required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act.
  • Must possess an appreciation for and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
Responsibilities
  • The function of the Youth Worker (YW) is to prepare and implement youth programs at the corps, including planning, organizing, and facilitating quality youth programs. The YW provides ministry support, oversight to all programs, and oversight to any summer enrichment program at The Salvation Army, as well as provides office support, as needed.
  • Weekly participation in Corps Worship Meetings.
  • Work in cooperation with the Corps Commanding Officers and local leaders to ensure programming excellence in all aspects of youth ministries.
  • Develop and maintain strong healthy relationships with all children and parents in accordance with the practices & policies of The Salvation Army.
  • Coordinate and implement the evangelism, discipleship, & leadership development of the young people involved in corps programs including opportunities for new ministry initiatives.
  • Plan and implement recruitment, leadership development & training opportunities to increase the quality and effectiveness of volunteer staff.
  • Regular contact and visitation of those that participate in youth activities and their families.
  • Provide leadership and support for youth Sunday School classes and other youth programming, including Jr. Soldiers, Corps Cadets, VBS, etc.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and transport kids attending camp, Youth Councils, young adult gatherings & other divisional events as assigned.
  • Maintain all records of attendance & statistics for related programs.
  • Maintain clean and safe work and program areas.
  • Provide office support, as needed.
