Requirements
  • An ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is required.
  • Basic experience performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system designs is required.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu is required.
  • Basic experience using and applying mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes is required.
  • Basic experience using and applying industry standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA is required.
  • Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and supporting field reporting is required.
  • Basic experience in plumbing design is required.
  • Basic experience using Revit plugins such as Enscape and Unifi is required.
  • Basic experience building parametric workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, and/or Rhino within Revit is required.
  • Basic proficiency in internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination is required.
  • Basic proficiency coordinating with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers is required.
Responsibilities
  • Interface with clients and external partners.
  • Develop design and construction drawing packages and edit construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight.
  • Participate in squad checks and contribute to producing quality deliverables.
  • Design basic-complexity mechanical systems, including airside, chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, steam, natural gas, and compressed air systems, in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Perform envelope, load, pressure drop, and other engineering calculations of basic complexity to confirm project requirements are met.
  • Size mechanical equipment, ductwork, and piping, and develop system schematics.
  • Attend professional development activities.
  • Provide mentorship to Mechanical Designer I.
  • Participate in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from a Lead or Senior Engineer.
  • Support construction activities, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports.
  • Work with more experienced engineers and assist in developing mechanical deliverables.
  • Execute one or more intermediate-level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Senior Mechanical Engineer.
  • Expand knowledge and skill sets to include design and specification of more complex mechanical systems, including HVAC and mechanical utility systems and equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
  • Experience in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Laboratory, or Food and Beverage industries.
