CodePath partners with universities and tech companies to provide specialized training in software development, focusing on mobile and web development, cybersecurity, and technical interview preparation. Its programs are integrated into college CS curricula, funded by university partnerships and corporate sponsorships, with mentorship and industry involvement. Students gain hands-on, career-focused skills through coursework and real-world projects while receiving guidance to navigate internships and roles in tech. Compared with many EdTech players, CodePath differentiates itself by targeting underrepresented students, combining rigorous academic-style curricula with industry sponsorships and mentorship to build a diverse pipeline of engineers, CTOs, and founders. The company’s goal is to broaden access to tech education and close the gap between talent and opportunity in the tech industry.

Anthropic has partnered with computer science education organisation CodePath to provide Claude and Claude Code to over 20,000 students at community colleges, state schools and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. More than 40 per cent of CodePath students come from families earning less than $50,000 annually. CodePath will integrate Claude into programming courses to give students experience building projects with AI tools and contributing to open source projects. The company claims pilot testing has shown positive results, with students reporting the tool helped them learn new programming languages. The partnership follows similar education initiatives by OpenAI, Meta and Google, as AI companies seek to build brand loyalty amongst students. Anthropic says it will collaborate with CodePath on research into how AI is changing education and economic opportunities in computing.
Maryland expands tech workforce training through Bowie State partnership. Through a new partnership, Maryland is working to grow its tech workforce. The Maryland Higher Education Commission and the Maryland Department of Labor have launched a partnership between CodePath and Bowie State University to expand technology career opportunities and strengthen the state's cybersecurity workforce, the labor department announced Monday. CodePath, a national nonprofit that integrates computer science courses into college degree programs, will collaborate with Bowie State to provide advanced training in software engineering, cybersecurity, and related fields. Expanding opportunities in tech. The program aims to provide free training to at least 800 students in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Working with partner universities, the initiative targets 60% to 80% of CodePath students securing technical internships or job placements in areas such as software engineering and cybersecurity, the labor department said. Maryland Labor Secretary Portia Wu said the collaboration meets employer demand while supporting student success. "By joining forces with education and industry partners, we are not only helping students to complete their education, but also ensuring they gain the hands-on experience that employers demand," Wu said. "This will prepare them to move into good jobs in a dynamic and increasingly technology-enabled economy." Building Maryland's tech pipeline. The partnership comes as Maryland makes investments in the quantum industry. In April, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced a partnership this week with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to invest $100 million in the state's quantum industry. Quantum mechanics involves the behavior of light and matter, according to the Britannica encyclopedia. The science of quantum mechanics can be used to build quantum computers, which can be significantly faster than traditional computing systems when solving problems.
To bridge that gap, DrivenData partnered with CodePath to design and implement modern, organization-wide data infrastructure centered on clarity, consistency, and sustainability, while also launching a hiring process to assemble a team to sustain and advance the work.
CodePath's Emerging Engineers Summit (EES 2025) stands out as the nation's largest inclusive virtual tech recruiting event, designed to help companies build high-quality, cost-effective early talent pipelines - fast.
CodePath, the nation’s leading provider of industry-aligned computer science education with strong roots in South Florida, announced some news earlier this month: Florida International University, along with Miami Dade College and just two other universities outside Florida, has implemented a new Emerging Engineer Empowerment Program. It’s part of its expansion of its partnership with FIU, providing computer science students access to career readiness workshops, mentorship opportunities, and CodePath’s computer science curriculum.“Our expansion in South Florida represents a significant milestone in our mission to reprogram higher education and create the first AI-native generation of engineers, CTOs and founders. By embedding our programs directly within college campuses, we’re ensuring students graduate career-ready and positioned for economic success.” said Michael Ellison, CEO and co-founder of CodePath.“At FIU, where over 1,000 students have taken part in CodePath programs since 2020, our expanded collaboration will further integrate industry-aligned curriculum into FIU coursework and expand career pathways,” Ellison continued. “We will continue to ensure our strategic plan and growth exponentially advances FIU’s initiatives.”The CodePath E3 Program The CodePath Emerging Engineer Empowerment Program, also called the E3, is a collection of CodePath courses that “represents the ideal intervention that we wish every single CS program should have,” Ellison said in an interview with Refresh Miami. With the expanded partnership at FIU, where CodePath is in the course roster, we are providing adjunct faculty or co-teaching with existing faculty, allowing us to be able to have a much deeper and much longer-term relationship with the students being the default. Most computer science programs don’t have practical software engineering, and so we now have for-credit courses that are a great fit for bridging that gap
