What critics are saying

  • China delivered 30% of fiscal 2026 revenue, exposing KLA to export controls.
  • U.S. BIS restrictions already block certain China advanced-node shipments and service.
  • A broader China cutoff would remove nearly one-third of revenue and cripple growth.

What makes KLA unique

  • KLA controls 58% of process control, dominating semiconductor inspection and metrology.
  • Advanced packaging revenue targets rose from $635 million to $1 billion in 2026.
  • June 2026 backlog hit $12.57 billion, proving sticky demand across AI fabs.

KLA reports Q4 revenue of $3.66B, forecasts Q1 revenue of $4B as AI infrastructure drives demand

KLA Corporation reported fourth quarter fiscal 2026 revenues of $3.66 billion, above the midpoint of guidance. GAAP diluted earnings per share came in at $1.04, whilst non-GAAP diluted EPS reached $1.05, both at the upper end of guidance. For the full fiscal year ended 30 June 2026, the semiconductor equipment manufacturer posted revenues of $13.58 billion and GAAP diluted EPS of $3.66. Operating cash flow for the year totalled $4.14 billion, with free cash flow of $3.77 billion. The company returned $3.35 billion to shareholders during fiscal 2026 through dividends and share repurchases. KLA completed a ten-for-one stock split on 11 June 2026. For the first quarter of fiscal 2027, KLA expects revenues of $4.0 billion, plus or minus $200 million, with non-GAAP diluted EPS projected at $1.16, plus or minus $0.10.

KLA stock pulled back 15% before earnings, but analysts see 9.4% upside

KLA is set to report quarterly earnings Tuesday after the bell, with analysts expecting 13.7% year-on-year revenue growth. The semiconductor equipment maker's shares closed at $210.52, down 15% over the past month but still up 16% over 90 days. The most popular valuation framework suggests KLA is 9.4% undervalued, placing fair value at $232.43 per share. That outlook assumes multiyear AI-driven wafer fabrication spending will remain durable, supported by government incentives and increasing process complexity. Estimates have been broadly reaffirmed over the past month, meaning this earnings report will serve as a check on whether KLA is meeting current expectations for the semiconductor equipment cycle. The valuation relies on continued revenue expansion, rising margins, and a premium earnings multiple through 2026. Risks include potential tariff pressure on margins, weaker China demand, and tighter export controls.

KLA Corporation leads with 41.7% margin while Covista and Matson underwhelm

KLA Corporation stands out as a profitable long-term investment, whilst Covista and Matson underwhelm, according to StockStory analysis. KLA Corporation, a leading supplier of semiconductor inspection equipment, demonstrated strong fundamentals with a 41.7% operating margin and 15.2% annual revenue growth over five years. Its 30.5% free cash flow margin provides flexibility for capital deployment. Covista, formerly DeVry Education Group, showed concerning signs with 15.2% annual sales growth below sector averages. Its free cash flow margin is expected to contract by 3.8 percentage points, whilst its 9% return on capital suggests difficulty finding profitable growth opportunities. Matson, an ocean transportation provider, posted disappointing 3.3% annual revenue growth over two years. Its free cash flow margin shrank by 13.2 percentage points over five years, indicating increasing capital consumption to maintain competitiveness.

KLA beats Q3 expectations but stock drops 5% despite strong AI-driven semiconductor demand

KLA Corporation delivered strong Q3 FY26 earnings, beating revenue, earnings and gross margin expectations, yet shares fell over 5% as investors questioned near-term earnings conversion. The company holds 58% market share in process control and is benefiting from AI-driven manufacturing complexity, with advanced packaging expectations nearly doubling. However, KLA's 11% growth lagged behind peers like Lam Research, which grew 24%, highlighting sequencing risk as deposition and etch tools lead before inspection demand fully materialises. Non-GAAP gross margin of 62.2% is expected to decline to 61.75% due to DRAM costs, tariffs and mix effects. Trading at 37 times forward earnings, analysts suggest fair value around $1,780. The structural bull case remains intact, with KLA positioned as the "tax collector" of semiconductor manufacturing as complexity increases.
