b.well announces partnerships with Noom, Humana, Welldoc. The partners, through their commitment to the CMS Interoperability Framework, will allow users to access their medical records digitally. Connected health data network b.well Connected Health announced partnerships with weight-loss company Noom, cardiometabolic-focused healthcare technology company Welldoc and health insurance company Humana, as a part of each company's commitment to the CMS Health Technology Ecosystem. Humana will allow individuals to connect and access their health data across providers, health plans, pharmacies and digital health applications. The health insurer will also have real-time access to members' data for claims processing. The integration will also help Humana respond to data requests from providers and other health plans. The strategic partnership between b.well and Welldoc, which offers an AI-enabled app for cardiometabolic health, will enable Welldoc to access patient-authorized health data. Welldoc users will be able to access their health information through b.well's national health data network. Noom and b.well will jointly launch Noom Health Record Connect, which will enable Medicare beneficiaries to connect their medical records to the Noom app. Noom will also be able to use the data, including diagnoses, medications and lab results, to personalize a member's experience by suggesting the most relevant programs, content and tools for specific health needs. "One of the biggest barriers to truly personalized healthcare is data silos - patient health records aren't easily shared between providers, health systems and digital platforms," Geoff Cook, CEO of Noom, said in a statement. "With this integration, we're changing that. A Medicare member can now connect their health records to Noom in minutes. We're also making our flagship Noom Weight program completely free for the first 30 days for all Medicare members who are new to Noom." THE LARGER TREND During a recent interview with MobiHealthNews, b.well's CEO Kristen Valdes outlined how companies that have pledged to participate in CMS' Interoperability Framework that was announced last year are communicating in real time over Slack. Valdes said the immediate line of communication speeds up problem-solving on technical and operational challenges compared with traditional regulatory processes. Through Slack channels, participants pitch, analyze and co-develop tools for patient matching, data exchange standards and other interoperability issues, Valdes said. Valdes described this approach as a model for public-private cooperation to accelerate healthcare interoperability.
Noom has acquired Tailor Made Compounding, a licensed 503A pharmacy operating in 46 states, marking the behaviour change company's largest investment in healthy aging. The acquisition will enable Noom to expand beyond weight health into additional preventive care conditions. TMC offers sterile and non-sterile compounding with a broad formulary spanning men's and women's health, weight management, healthy aging and IV therapy. The pharmacy serves over 400 clinics and multiple telehealth partners. Noom plans to broaden its formulary to include peptide-based therapies like sermorelin and healthy aging interventions such as NAD+. TMC will continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary under CEO Ross Jordan's leadership. The company recently expanded its facility to over 40,000 square feet. Noom expects to integrate TMC and expand into new healthy aging areas this summer.
Microdosing Ozempic: startup Noom launches prevention-focused program. American digital health platform offers medication in low doses for US$149 monthly for users with BMI from 21; strategy targets longevity market estimated at US$8 trillion by 2030. Noom, the American digital health platform known for its dietary habit change app, has launched a program that combines GLP-1 class medications, which include Ozempic and Mounjaro, in microdoses with biomarker monitoring and behavioral coaching. The service, named Proactive Health Microdose GLP-1 Rx, costs US$149 per month (about R$900) and is available to people with a body mass index (BMI) from 21 - a lower threshold than traditionally required for prescription of these drugs. GLP-1 agonists, the class of medications that includes semaglutide (active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro), are approved for type 2 diabetes and obesity treatment. Prescription typically requires BMI equal to or above 30, or above 27 in cases of associated comorbidities. Noom's proposal differs from traditional GLP-1 offerings by positioning the medication as a preventive health tool, rather than just for weight loss. The program includes sending personalized doses to users and at-home blood tests every four months, which monitor 17 biomarkers related to metabolic, cardiovascular, and hormonal health. Results are integrated into the company's app, which already offers habit-building tools. The launch occurs at a time of accelerated expansion of GLP-1 use in the United States. Gallup research indicates that 12.4% of American adults report using medications like Ozempic and Wegovy for weight loss - more than double the rate recorded at the beginning of 2024. The growth is mainly driven by middle-aged adults. Data from Ro, a telehealth company, shows that familiarity with the medications directly influences public perception: people who know someone using GLP-1 tend to have a more favorable view of the class. In Brazil, GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy are regulated by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) and require medical prescription. There has been no announcement, so far, about expanding Noom's program to the Brazilian market.

Highmark partnering with Noom to tackle obesity. Highmark has announced that it is partnering with Noom, a preventative health provider, to help its customers get healthier and lose weight. Maria Baker, Highmark vice president of health strategy and delivery, said that with nearly 74% of U.S. adults overweight and obese costing the health system $173 billion annually, Highmark and Noom are combining resources to address the issue. Currently, about 2 million of Highmark's customers will be eligible to participate in the Noom program for free. To be eligible, an individual needs to have a BMI of over 25. Those under that level can still participate in the program at a discount off the regular consumer cost. The program has three levels or "journeys," Baker said. The first is core weight management, the second is diabetes prevention, and the third is managing a diabetes lifestyle. An assessment questionnaire that new users take will assess which journey they need to be on and AI support will track progress to show if that person needs to move up or down a program as they progress. All journeys offer bite-sized lessons, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered smart tools, one-on-one support and peer communities. "This is definitely something we've been pursuing for years," Baker said. "Focusing on sick patients has driven up costs. People get sicker and sicker, so now we focus on some of the underlying cause like sleep, nutrition and exercise." Noom offers a whole-person health approach to weight management. By leveraging behavior change and habit formation techniques, personalized coaching and cutting-edge technology. "Highmark and Noom are both dedicated to building a world-class customer experience for the people we serve by engaging them when, where and how is best for them," said Tracy Saula, chief product and experience officer at Highmark Health. "Our members will find that Noom: Weight Management is customized to their unique needs and goals, guiding them toward implementing changes and ultimately sustaining a healthy routine." For members who struggle to maintain progress or experience gradual weight gain, Noom's psychology-based lessons help members understand the "why" behind their habits, improve their relationship with food and reframe setbacks as part of the journey. AI-powered tools - including smart food logging, body scan technology and automated progress tracking - provide real-time insights that make healthy choices easier. Integration with wearables seamlessly captures activity, giving members a holistic view of their progress. Baker said there are similar programs on the market, but Highmark chose to go with Noom because their missions are closely aligned. "We really like the way Noom addresses consumer behavior and focuses on lifestyle. They would probably describe themselves as a behavior company with weight management being what they started with. Additionally, Noom's GLP-1 Companion is available to members across all journeys who self-report they are taking a GLP-1 medication. This feature offers customized content such as protein intake guidance, strategies to help retain muscle and information on managing side effects. "Health is more than managing weight or a diagnosis - it's about creating lasting habits that support overall well-being," said Cody Fair, chief commercial officer at Noom. "Through our collaboration with Highmark, members will gain access to AI-powered tools like body scan technology and smart food logging, providing real-time insights, making healthier choices easier and helping drive sustainable long-term outcomes." Fair noted that obesity can increase a person's risk for hypertension, type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease - with huge associated costs to the health care system. Studies have shown that weight loss of 5 to 10 percent can lead to clinically meaningful results and reduce the economic impact of costly comorbidities. Highmark will begin offering the Noom program to members starting Jan. 1. Members can confirm their eligibility by logging on to their My Highmark mobile app or web portal at myhighmark.com.
