The laboratory of Dr. Steven Bensinger, newly appointed Chair of the Department of Immunology and Immune Therapeutics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, is seeking a highly motivated Research Laboratory Technician II. Dr. Bensinger is a world expert in how lipid metabolism influences the immune system, and the incumbent will play a critical role in supporting ongoing research projects in both innate and adaptive immunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols.
- Prepare and organize laboratory reagents, glassware, and equipment.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Keep accurate laboratory records and manage stocks and supply inventories.
- Prepare buffers and common stock reagents.
- Perform non-routine, complex assignments with minimal supervision.
- Compile and analyze data from a variety of research procedures and techniques.
- Maintain the laboratory mouse colony (animal husbandry) and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory safety standards.
- Verify receipt of laboratory supplies and manage ordering.
- Provide general laboratory assistance to ensure smooth research operations.

The hourly rate range for this position is $25.71 - $31.30. Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 2 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
