Requirements
  • Five to eight or more years of experience in product engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering, ideally in consumer products, consumer electronics, soft goods, or similar industries. Furniture experience is an asset but not required.
  • Strong foundations in mechanical design, materials, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience designing scalable systems or platforms across a product range rather than one-off solutions.
  • Comfort with computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar tools, along with building and testing physical prototypes.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside designers and balance aesthetic success with scalable functionality.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment across foam specification sheets, connector tooling, and packaging geometry.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to clearly explain engineering trade-offs to non-engineers.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with designers to solve complex engineering problems throughout product development, from initial concept through production readiness.
  • Design and develop platform-level innovations, including assembly systems, connection mechanisms, and cover-fastening solutions, that can be reused across current and future product lines.
  • Simplify existing product platforms by reducing the number of parts, improving tolerances, making assembly more intuitive, and reducing costs without compromising customer experience.
  • Improve product quality, reduce costs, and optimize transportation and logistics to create more value for customers.
  • Solve engineering challenges related to compact packaging subject to strict weight and dimensional limits.
  • Work on materials and construction, including foam and filling specifications, cover fabrics, and structural components; diagnose failures and develop solutions.
  • Help develop engineering solutions with suppliers when the design team needs to resolve a technical issue with a factory.
  • Build a continuous-improvement loop by converting customer feedback, complaints, return data, and reviews into concrete product improvements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in furniture engineering.
