Requirements
  • Current unencumbered license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, or current certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three to five years of minimum clinical experience in primary care or a similar practice setting, including proven phlebotomy, laboratory processing and handling, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments waived testing compliance, and vaccine storage, handling, and administration experience.
  • A demonstrated passion for mentoring focused on patient safety.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure appropriate onboarding and orientation of new clinical support staff and manage ongoing training and development needs, including clinical assessment and involvement in the hiring process.
  • Participate in patient care activities, including rooming, obtaining vital signs, taking patient histories, collecting laboratory specimens, and administering medications and vaccines.
  • Authorize prescription refills as directed by providers while following Village policies.
  • Monitor patient schedules and clinical inboxes to ensure patient needs are addressed promptly.
  • Schedule patient and follow-up appointments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Manager on clinical staffing assignments and work in a patient-facing clinical role as needed.
  • Participate in brand marketing while rotating throughout the vestibule, focusing on engaging patients and increasing patient volume.
  • Adhere to infection control measures, point-of-care test and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments waived laboratory compliance, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements for healthcare settings, and safe vaccine storage, handling, and administration.
  • Mentor, support, and develop new clinical support staff.
  • Attend leadership meetings and conduct clinical staff meetings and huddles in collaboration with the Practice Manager, focusing on staff engagement.
  • Provide office supervision in the absence of the Practice Manager.
  • Communicate organizational and clinical changes to staff positively and champion support of all change.
  • Prepare and administer oral, intramuscular, and intradermal medications as directed by the provider, using the rights of vaccine or medication administration.
  • Provide patients with instruction regarding medications and diet.
  • Perform quality controls and equipment checks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers, required within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, or an emergency room.

Walgreens Boots Alliance-backed healthcare clinic chain VillageMD is reportedly working with advisers to explore a sale, restructuring or other options. This move comes after Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth said during a January earnings call that the company plans to divest VillageMD, Bloomberg reported Wednesday (Feb. 12). A Walgreens spokesperson told Bloomberg that Walgreens “is continuing to work toward executing its stated goal of securing an endpoint for its investment in VillageMD, consistent with Walgreens’ turnaround strategy.”
