Vanguard’s Financial Advisor Services (FAS) Marketing team is looking for a Lead Writer/Editorial Manager to lead a team that will craft compelling narratives for Financial Advisors, showcasing our thought leadership, investment products, and financial planning tools that assist advisors in managing their clients’ investments in all our marketing channels.
The team is comprised of writers and copy editors, some of whom embed into our cross functional marketing pods, while others flow to the most important work across all our initiatives. As their leader, you’ll guide, direct, and coach the crew on the work. You’ll work with each of them on their unique development needs and help nurture them on their individual career paths.
This role:
Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
Maintains and divulges in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of various industries and of Vanguard products, processes, and/or services to a team of writers and editors.
Sets priorities to balance workload and adjust resources as necessary.
Ensures quality control and timely delivery for content produced by a team of writers and editors. May report metrics on quality, productivity, or other related team activities.
Consults with leaders and subject matter experts regularly on communications and content strategies. Applies advanced subject matter expertise to pitch new ideas and find creative ways to tell Vanguard’s story. Utilizes metrics and analytics.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
What it takes:
Minimum five years related work experience, including quality control and timely delivery for content produced by writers and editors.
Experience presenting content and design solutions to project teams, partners, and senior management.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
Experience hiring, evaluating and leading others is highly preferred.
