Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Nursing.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas Upon Hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification Upon Hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification Upon Hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification 30 Days Upon Hire
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse in a healthcare setting is required
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in ambulatory surgical center following standard nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Model compassionate communication with patients, families, interprofessional health care team, and physicians.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional health care team to facilitate, coordinate, and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achieve desired treatment outcomes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills utilized in the nursing process.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with patients, families, interprofessional health care team and physicians.
  • Maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members; strong assessment, organizational and problem-solving skills with prioritization.
  • Focus on customer service and ensure safety and comfort of patients and family.
  • Adapt to unexpected changes and utilize critical thinking; consult with team and clinical resources as necessary.
  • Demonstrate expertise in operating the electronic medical record.
  • Act as effective change agent.
  • Use therapeutic communication to establish relationship and collaborate on plan of care.
  • Function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional team and patients and families.
  • Demonstrate proficient time management.
  • Use critical thinking and clinical judgment to work autonomously as defined by Nurse Practice Act.
  • Lead and mentor on patient and family-centered care standards; Role model cultural diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop, update, and communicate plan of care including discharge; prioritize care; advocate for patient/family to identify/resolve clinical and ethical concerns.
  • Develop resources and supports unit practices; implement effective patient teaching strategies; evaluate comprehension.
  • Drive department activities to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Model standards of care related to nursing process; staff nurse leader for complex patients; lead interprofessional team in plan of care.
  • Model standards related to regulatory requirements and professional practice; lead improvements in patient safety processes; contribute to standards.
  • Lead and identify opportunities for practice changes and performance improvement; investigate and incorporate evidence-based practices; present to shared governance; lead quality and safety initiatives; audit plan of care and other areas.
  • Model independent time management and prioritization; collaborate to facilitate patient throughput.
  • Implement department strategies to achieve financial targets; mentor others; timely documentation; decrease length of stay; minimize overtime.
  • Foster identification and implementation of innovative solutions to improve patient care or unit operations; lead/participate in unit projects and governance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
