Requirements
  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Public Safety Certificate of Registration
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • BE/BC Pediatric Endocrinologist
  • Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Trained
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a wide variety of pediatric endocrine disorders, from common to complex patients
  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs
  • Order studies, tests and ancillary services
  • Counsel patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene and diet
  • Examine patients and obtain medical histories
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families
  • Determine which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
  • Determine level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of health care
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
  • Review long term cases requiring ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with Medical Director and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues
  • Participate in process improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs
  • Oversee mid-level medical staff as assigned as well as nursing clinical staff
  • Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests and inquiries from patients
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
  • Demonstrate commitment to providing outstanding customer service to all customers in a manner reflective of our mission, values and customer service standards
