Job Description Summary
The Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Manager reports to the Director of the Children’s. The Nurse Manager ensures the provision of his/her departments in collaboration with other health professionals in an environment that is respectful of others, accountable for outcomes and adaptive to change. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the planning and comprehensive operations of the Pediatric Acute Care unit on a 24-hour basis.

Job Description
Manages one or more functional areas of a department. Manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate supervisors. Typically has hire, fire, or promotion authority. Evaluates and makes improvements to department processes while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations. More discretion and greater financial authority than other lower management levels. Manages initiatives, strategic priorities and programs which have an impact on the organization. Works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals. Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates activities and functions of the department/functional business area based employee/organizational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical/non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings.
Additional Job Description
Education: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college/ university; Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in lieu of BSN. Master’s degree in Nursing or related field or DNP preferred. If BSN only, must be currently enrolled in Master’s Program at the time of application with completion expected within 1 year. A minimum of three years of nursing experience and one year of supervisory experience required. Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged. State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
