Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering field is required.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in the appropriate discipline is required.
  • Professional Engineer licensure is strongly preferred, and professional licensure in Kansas and Missouri must be obtained as soon as possible.
  • Candidates must have effective communication, listening, reading, proofreading, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal, analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, time-management, negotiation, collaboration, leadership, and customer-service skills.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Candidates must be proficient in the PLS Suite, including PLS-CADD, CAISSON, and PLS-POLE.
  • Candidates must be proficient in MFAD and/or LPile.
  • Candidates must be able to learn additional software and processes as needed.
  • Candidates must be able to work independently and successfully within a team.
  • Candidates must be able to handle complex, deadline-driven workloads.
  • Candidates may be required to operate a motor vehicle on public roads and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen within 48 hours of being contacted.
Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical specialist in the focus area.
  • Provide internal technical advice to project managers for proposals and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with the client's designee on project planning, scope, concepts, strategies, task organization, effort estimates, fee structures, risk management, resources, schedules, cost estimates, and budget estimates.
  • Direct, manage, and participate in producing project deliverables, including signing and sealing work products as a Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Prepare preliminary studies, plans, and cost estimates.
  • Plan, oversee, and develop final reports for studies.
  • Define and oversee the design process.
  • Design projects and develop plan production.
  • Conduct project status and review meetings.
  • Develop and produce specifications and contract documents.
  • Support bidding and contract award.
  • Oversee contract administration.
  • Monitor and maintain quality across all project deliverables.
  • Perform site investigations and prepare reports documenting existing conditions.
  • Provide input regarding the monthly project accounting process, including reviewing project time and expense charges.
  • Oversee and direct the assignments of engineers and technicians assigned to a project.
  • Develop an open environment that encourages communication and collaboration among project team members.
  • Provide constructive performance feedback to project team members and coach them to improve performance.
  • Provide performance information on project team members to the team leader, Delivery/Marketing leader, or project manager.
  • Maintain awareness of new engineering trends, techniques, strategies, philosophies, and methods.
  • Participate in professional organizations related to the engineer's expertise or client focus.
  • Maintain professional licensure in the states required by the company.
  • Analyze project issues and recommend efficient, cost-effective solutions.
  • Meet with equipment vendors on a technical basis with project managers and project teams as directed.
  • Select appropriate project materials and equipment based on performance, cost, and operation and maintenance considerations.
  • Work on complex and potentially large projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, MFAD, LPile, and related design software is preferred.
  • PLS-Tower experience is a plus.
