Responsibilities
  • Teach classes in subject areas such as media production, topics in media studies, communications history, media literacy, and cinema.
  • Develop adaptive thinking and problem-solving skills in students.
  • Establish a positive, productive, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Hold all classes as scheduled and be punctual.
  • Enforce university policies and procedures.
  • Distribute the syllabus to each student by the first class meeting.
  • Follow the established course schedule and provide notice of any substantial changes.
  • Require use of course texts to an extent that warrants purchase.
  • Ensure students receive reasonable and timely assistance with course assignments/assessments.
  • Administer an exam or other evaluative activity during the scheduled final exam time for every course.
  • Determine final grades as per the method prescribed in the syllabus.
  • Engage in scholarly activities and creative endeavors that contribute to the academic mission of the university.
  • Supervise laboratories, independent study activities, and off-campus learning such as practicums and internships.
  • Participate in shared governance and volunteer for university events and initiatives.
