Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Official transcripts are required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems and automated laboratory equipment is required.
  • Ability to use computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports is required.
  • Ability to instruct credit classes in the absence of the assigned instructor is required.
  • Ability to provide instruction to students in non-credit and non-transferable courses is required.
  • Knowledge of the safe use and disposition of hazardous chemicals is required.
  • Ability to perform laboratory tests, including pre- and post-analytic phases, is required.
  • Ability to document activities, record results, and insert and retrieve data is required.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, detail-oriented, decision-making, follow-up, and task-completion abilities are required.
  • Knowledge and experience providing effective customer service are required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • The position is subject to a criminal background check, and some positions may be subject to fingerprint checks.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory experiments and exercises under supervision to demonstrate learning experiences taught by the course instructor.
  • Assist in supervising laboratory activities to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Order, catalog, and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with preparing reports and correspondence.
  • Assist students with course assignments, lectures, tests, and laboratory exercises.
  • Work individually and in small groups with students to demonstrate procedures and the use of equipment and materials.
  • Assist the instructor by selecting tests from test banks, administering exams, and recording grades.
  • Participate in curriculum and resource development as needed.
  • Participate in periodic inventories of capital equipment.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment repairs and coordinate major repairs with vendors or the college repair department as needed.
  • Maintain related records and provide information for decision-making.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours each academic year.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual ability is preferred.
