- High school diploma or General Educational Development certificate.
- Completion of a nursing education program that satisfies the licensing requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Typically, one year directly related experience.
- Knowledge of appropriate charting procedures.
- Interpersonal communication skills to communicate with hospital staff and diverse patient population.
- Clerical skills.
- Ability to assist patient with personal hygiene.
- Ability to transport patients, specimens and supplies to and from various areas as necessary.
- Knowledge of intravenous introduction.
- Ability to monitor intravenous therapy on assigned patients once intravenous certification is received.
- Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse License in the state of Colorado or qualifying compact state.
- Intravenous certification within 12 months of hire (to be verified by unit).
- Under close supervision of an RN or Charge Nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with established plans.
- Assists RNs and Care Providers with procedures, medication administration, phlebotomy, and limited laboratory procedures.
