Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with emphasis on Computer Science and Management Information Systems is required.
  • At least five years of experience in IT infrastructure and networking, including network design, planning, and implementation of scalable, highly available, mission-critical environments, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto Networks is required.
  • Experience with BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF routing protocols and IP addressing is required.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, organization, and resource coordination, is required.

  • The candidate must have expertise in routing and switching, firewall configuration and management, wireless access points and controllers, and software-defined wide area network infrastructure.
  • The candidate must have experience supporting high-availability environments across data centers, campus networks, and branch locations, including remote-site operations and support methodologies.
  • The candidate must understand network architectures for hybrid cloud environments and have practical knowledge of Citrix, Azure, VMware, and Hyper-V.
  • The candidate must be able to manage and optimize network-based monitoring systems and oversee network performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft 365 products and applications.
  • The position requires regular travel to corporate facilities and bank locations throughout the Chicagoland and Wisconsin branch network.
  • The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with possible additional hours, rotational Saturday work, and off-hours on-call availability.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot, and document computer networks and infrastructure, including Juniper and Cisco systems.
  • Lead major network projects supporting capacity growth, upgrades, new products and features, and integration.
  • Maintain current knowledge of networking standards, guidelines, and industry trends across LAN, WAN, software-defined wide area networking, wireless, data center networking, and firewalls.
  • Lead the team in implementing networking standards and security best practices.
  • Execute scopes of work aligned with implementation plans, including system architecture builds, testing protocols, technical documentation, and end-user training.
  • Contribute to the development and analysis of network designs and protocols, including prototyping and assessment.
  • Lead planning, engineering, forecasting, and implementation for moderately complex network systems while aligning resource requirements with performance and scalability needs.
  • Recommend changes to maintenance and systems standards and train support personnel on system conversion and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with change-control processes and adherence to standards.
  • Diagnose, isolate, and resolve network problems and provide root-cause analysis.
  • Identify potential production-environment issues and recommend solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally and exchange complex specialization-related information with internal and external peers and managers.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training to junior engineers.
  • Partner with the Information Security team to assess network threats and ensure timely action.
  • Complete additional assignments and projects designated by management.

  • Certifications in Cisco, Palo Alto, and/or Aruba are preferred.
