The Media Ecosystem Observatory at McGill University is seeking applications for a part-time junior analyst position with expertise in collecting and analyzing qualitative data on the Canadian information ecosystem. The candidate will be joining the Observatory at a stimulating time of growth and expansion and will help drive a growing research agenda through data collection and review.

 The successful applicant will have:

• experience collecting, labeling, and analyzing data to answer social scientific research questions

• communication skills to coordinate with team members to build a consistent dataset

• basic familiarity with the Canadian media ecosystem

• experience working with social media data, including designing, collecting, managing, sharing, and analyzing data in an efficient manner

 The successful applicant may have:

• the ability to communicate effectively in French

Specific duties:  

Under the direction of the Media Ecosystem Observatory leadership, the successful candidate will be expected to fulfill the following duties:

• Extend the seedlist used in the Canadian information ecosystem analysis by collecting and analyzing data on relevant entities;

• Communicate findings with team members, receive feedback, and converge on defensible conclusions;

• Provide general support to the Centre’s research activities where needed.
