Requirements
  • Technical leadership in relevant domain (multi-modal calibration, SLAM, computer vision, estimation). Track record of building and maintaining scalable, automated pipelines by drawing on expertise from technical leads. Ability to build technical roadmaps, and manage high-quality execution while managing trade-offs between foundational improvements and immediate operational needs.
  • Team growth and leadership. Proven ability to mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Interface with product & programmes. Track record of working with product and programme functions to plan and prioritise, and handle change of direction and priorities.
  • Strategic prioritisation and decision making. Expertise in navigating shifting priorities, balancing long-term architecture with urgent support requests, and making data-driven trade-offs between impact, feasibility, and resources.
Responsibilities
  • Managing delivery of the technical roadmap – forecasting dependencies and helping to unblock the team.
  • Understanding the long-term production strategy for calibration, and building and aligning the calibration technical roadmap towards it.
  • Helping the team to balance urgent operational day-to-day requirements with delivery of the long-term roadmap.
  • Aligning with technical stakeholders to define SLAs for calibration.
  • Help the team handle fleet scaling and create more time for roadmap delivery by increasing automation, monitoring and observability of the pipeline.
  • Set the team up well for increasing the calibration pipeline scalability and modularity, and decoupling core algorithmic elements from sensor standardisation to make it platform-agnostic.
Desired Qualifications
  • Building calibration systems for sensor suites for autonomous driving or other robotics platforms from the ground up.
  • Creating calibration systems both in the cloud and in real-time / on-robot.
  • Proven experience of taking proof-of-concept algorithmic systems through to production.
  • Experience of SLAM / sensor fusion algorithms and nonlinear least squares optimisation.

Wayve.ai develops self-driving technology known as AV2.0, which focuses on creating autonomous vehicles that learn from experience and adapt to their environments without needing extensive programming. This technology uses embodied AI software and end-to-end deep learning, making it more cost-effective than traditional methods that rely on expensive hardware and detailed maps. Unlike competitors, Wayve.ai's approach allows for a leaner and more adaptable solution for automakers and fleet operators. The company's goal is to promote smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility by partnering with automakers and fleet operators to implement its technology in their vehicles and services.
