Requirements
  • Hold a PhD in design or a related field, or equivalent professional and creative achievements.
  • Demonstrate tertiary teaching experience in game design or related areas, with strong studio-based, student-centred practice.
  • Bring a developing research or creative practice profile in contemporary game design, interactive media or game studies.
  • Offer advanced Unreal Engine skills, including Blueprints visual scripting for prototyping, interaction, systems and player experience.
  • Experience with C++ programming and familiarity with game engines beyond Unreal Engine.
  • Apply deep expertise in level design, spatial thinking, environmental storytelling, playtesting and iterative refinement processes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with strong commitment to inclusive, equitable game design education.
  • Have current valid work rights for Australia.
  • Obtain a Working with Children Check.
Responsibilities
  • Lead studio-based teaching in the Game Design major, focusing on Unreal Engine, game mechanics and level design.
  • Design and coordinate an introductory Game Design subject that builds foundational skills in systems, interaction and player experience.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, assessment design and continuous improvement of student-centred, inclusive game design pedagogy.
  • Develop a research or creative practice profile in contemporary game design, interactive media and related design disciplines.
  • Build industry and community partnerships, mentoring students towards professional practice through showcases, festivals, playtesting and exhibitions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with C++ programming and familiarity with game engines beyond Unreal Engine would be highly regarded, particularly where this demonstrates an ability to transfer technical knowledge and development practices across platforms.
