Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by June 2026; all majors are accepted.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • A belief that all students have the right to a high-quality education and that educators play an integral role in supporting student success.
  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools and throughout Washington, DC.
  • Occasional flexibility to work outside normal business hours or weekends for KIPP DC events.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher with instruction, classroom culture, and administrative duties.
  • Internalize and teach clear, concise, developmentally appropriate content to support student learning in small and whole groups.
  • Track, analyze, and use data to drive teaching and instruction.
  • Build trusting relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
  • Implement school-wide student culture policies within classrooms and throughout the campus.
  • Conduct purposeful observations of excellent lead teachers.
  • Support additional classrooms beyond the assigned classroom, including covering classes and supporting other classrooms when needed.
  • Take on additional responsibilities throughout the school as needed.
  • Participate in regular meetings with teachers and leaders, grade-level meetings, and network-wide professional development.
  • Attend staff and student field trips, open houses, family-teacher conferences, and other events involving parents and students as needed.

KIPP DC runs a network of public charter schools in Washington, D.C. that provides a college-preparatory education to over 7,000 students from early childhood through high school across multiple campuses. It is a non-profit funded by per-student public allocations plus private gifts and grants, using the KIPP model of longer school days, extended years, and a strong focus on character and academics. The curriculum emphasizes data-driven instruction and high expectations to boost learning time and student growth, with a dedicated KIPP Forward program that supports alumni with college applications, financial aid, and post-secondary success. Its goal is to give students from under-resourced DC communities equitable access to high-quality education and to ensure they graduate ready for college and a successful career.
