Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration, or a related field is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a hotel's accounting department is required.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
  • The ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • A high level of attention to detail is required.
Responsibilities
  • Verify that the property management system daily city ledger, guest ledger, and advance deposit ledger balances reconcile to the previous month's closing balance plus current month-to-date net changes.
  • Prepare the daily revenue journal, classify revenues to the correct general ledger code, and circulate the completed report to department heads.
  • Verify that daily cash settlements posted in the property management system balance with cash deposited according to the General Cashier report.
  • Verify credit card billing against the daily business report and prepare credit card and bank reconciliation sheets and credit card commission accruals.
  • Ensure audit policies and procedures, including Control Self-Assessment, are followed.
  • Follow the Hotel Credit Policy and credit policies and procedures.
  • Check invoices for supporting documentation and compliance with quoted hotel rates and banqueting orders.
  • Ensure credits and payments are allocated correctly to invoices and accounts.
  • Follow up on outstanding amounts with standard letters in accordance with Credit Policy and Procedure.
  • Advise relevant stakeholders of potential problems as soon as they arise.
  • Process applications for new credit accounts.
  • Distribute listings of all active accounts receivable regularly.
  • Establish and continually review credit limits for accounts receivable.
  • Review checked-out guests, open payer accounts, and advance deposit records against audited revenue.
  • Maintain a complete credit file for each account, including all credit-investigation documentation.
  • Manage, reconcile, and follow up on credit card inquiries and disputes.
  • Review all accounts-receivable debits and credits daily.
  • Verify the accuracy of accounts-receivable balances.
  • Maintain and build communication with credit stakeholders.
