Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university program in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
  • 0-1 year of industry work experience
  • Coursework and demonstrated project experience in control systems, especially in a lab environment
  • Experience in laboratory experimentation, developing test strategies, experiment design, and integration and test
  • A strong working knowledge of electronics, mechanical design, control systems, inertial sensors, and actuators for spacecrafts and/or launch vehicles
  • Proficiency with any of the following tools: MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, C/C++, Python
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and to work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 10% (as required)
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical studies and experimental investigations to support customer programs
  • Analyze, simulate, evaluate, or test control systems and their components
  • Perform experimental investigations in the Mechatronics Research Laboratory and/or other Aerospace labs, including controller design and implementation, data reduction and visualization, sensor and actuator performance evaluation, and electro-optical systems calibration and alignment
  • Support multiple programs, clearly communicating the results of studies while working with both internal and external customers and stakeholders as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader
  • Communicate both orally and in writing with higher management, program offices, customers, contractors, and colleagues
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and implement innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
  • Experience with electromechanical components (lab setup, data acquisition and communication), microcontrollers, and environmental testing (vacuum)
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: mechanical design, structural analysis, servo control, motors, electronics, signal processing, guidance and navigation, real-time software development, rapid control prototyping, GPS receiver testing and associated algorithms, small satellite development, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS, UAV, drones), or robotics
  • Proficiency with any of the following tools/languages: NX or SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, dSPACE, C/C++, Python, EAGLE
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
