Angi is a marketplace that helps homeowners and renters find local home-service professionals. It connects consumers with service providers in areas like plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, and general contracting using verified reviews and ratings. The product works by offering a subscription-based access model for consumers to read detailed reviews and find trusted pros, while providers pay for advertising and enhanced visibility on the platform. This makes it easier for homeowners to compare and hire reliable professionals, and for service providers to reach new customers. Angi differentiates itself through its emphasis on verified home-service reviews and a dual revenue model of consumer memberships and provider advertising. The company aims to help people discover trustworthy professionals and simplify the process of home maintenance and repair.

Angi launches as connected app in Gemini as part of AI-first strategy

Angi has become one of the first home services marketplaces available through Gemini as a connected app, launching 13 August. The integration is part of Angi's AI-first strategy to connect homeowners with local professionals across leading AI platforms. Through Gemini, homeowners can explore home improvement questions and find trusted resources before transitioning to Angi. Once there, they can use AI Helper, Angi's AI-powered feature that translates project descriptions into service requests. Currently, 50% of homeowners use AI in Angi's core experience, converting roughly three times higher than non-AI users. The Gemini launch complements Angi's expanding AI ecosystem, which includes integrations with OpenAI's ChatGPT and upcoming availability in Amazon Alexa+.

Strategy manager lands role at Angi after messaging 1,200 people on LinkedIn

Hashim Mahmoud, a 30-year-old strategy and operations manager at Angi, landed his current role in 2024 after contacting over 1,200 people on LinkedIn, speaking with approximately 150, and conducting about 20 interviews. His strategy centred on personalised connection requests and informational conversations. Mahmoud maintained a spreadsheet tracking former colleagues, secondary connections and professionals at target companies. He sent brief, respectful messages requesting 15 to 20 minute calls to learn about their backgrounds and companies, avoiding direct job requests. During conversations, Mahmoud asked about career paths, required skills and team culture. He systematically followed up with thank-you notes and requested introductions to other professionals. The networking helped him understand company dynamics and refine his interview skills. His position at Angi came through a former colleague's introduction, ultimately leading to a job offer several months later.

Angi posts Q1 revenue miss, withdraws guidance after March slowdown in large home projects

Angi reported first-quarter revenue of $238.2 million, missing analyst estimates of $240.6 million and marking a 3.2% year-on-year decline. The home services marketplace withdrew short-term guidance, prompting a sharp negative market reaction. Management attributed the miss to a challenging March, when homeowners deferred larger projects in favour of smaller jobs due to macroeconomic pressures. This shift reduced professional service provider demand and budget allocations. CEO Jeffrey Kip acknowledged inconsistencies in delivering improvements on Angi's legacy technology stack. Despite the revenue miss, adjusted EBITDA of $22.91 million beat estimates by 43.2%. Kip told analysts the company will fund its AI platform transformation internally and focus less on incremental revenue from legacy operations, declining to provide explicit near-term guidance to avoid distraction from long-term strategy execution.

Angi suspends guidance and pivots to AI-native marketplace after Q1 revenue drops to $238M

Angi reported first-quarter 2026 sales of $238.15 million, down from $245.91 million year-over-year, whilst swinging to a net loss of $8.98 million from a profit of $15.11 million previously. The home services marketplace company has frozen its legacy platform, suspended quarterly guidance and committed to rebuilding an AI-native marketplace. The pivot signals a meaningful reset prioritising technology transformation over near-term revenue growth. Execution risk now centres on whether Angi's AI investments can offset weaker network revenue and declining active professionals whilst eventually reconnecting with long-term home improvement spending trends. Angi's narrative projects $1.1 billion revenue by 2029, requiring 3.4% annual growth. Analysts' fair value estimate of $14.29 represents a 173% upside to the current share price.

Angi pivots to AI-native platform, posts Q1 EBITDA of $23M and repurchases $100M in debt

Angi reported first-quarter adjusted EBITDA of approximately $23 million, exceeding its prior $10–15 million guidance range, and repurchased roughly $100 million of bonds, representing about 20% of its debt. The company has suspended formal guidance to focus on long-term transformation. CEO Jeff Kip announced Angi is pivoting to an AI-native platform and developing AI agents, including an "Angi Pro Chief Revenue Officer", to improve homeowner outcomes and professional win rates. The company aims to migrate to the new platform within 12 months, with initial agent tests starting soon and potential revenue acceleration expected in 2027. Management stated the transformation will not be funded through balance-sheet cash and expects to maintain "solid operating cash flow" whilst keeping a directional cash cushion around $50 million. Share buybacks are capped until April 2027.
